Where does our plastic packaging really go?

Recycling alone won’t solve plastic pollution. The solution starts at the source: less plastic packaging, reusable alternatives, and holding companies accountable for the waste they create.

Through The Waters Weaver, we’re weaving collected plastic mailing envelopes and other discarded plastics into a community-built sculpture, using art to spark conversation and inspire action to protect our shared waters.

Meet the Weavers 🌊

Jackie collected potato chip bags and other single-use plastic packaging from her daughter’s birthday party to contribute to The Waters Weaver.

Her message is simple: what if buying in bulk and refill stations were more accessible, so we could keep the same containers and refill them instead of buying new packaging every time?

Small changes can help us rethink how much plastic we bring into our lives.

Community Partner Spotlight 💙

The Waters Weaver is growing through community.

So happy to have Riis Settlement joining the Waters Weaver Project and helping us collect plastic that will become part of our 10-foot community-built sculpture.

Every bag, wrapper, lid, and piece of plastic collected becomes part of something bigger, connecting people, creativity, and care for our waterways.

Hello, waterfront neighbors!

We had such a great turnout for our last rip-rap cleanup that we’re doing it again! 💙

In just 90 minutes, we collected 10 bags of trash from our shoreline. On September 16, join Hunters Point Park Conservancy and The Blue Bus Project as we come together to clean the waterfront we share.
