A night of laughs at Gotham Comedy Club! 🎤💛 CFH Comedy Night on Tuesday brought our community together for an evening of laughter in support of our mission of ending episodes of homelessness for New Yorkers in need.

A huge thank-you to our host and board member Moody McCarthy, and the night's featured comedians Erin Jackson, Jon Fisch, and Jason Salmon for sharing their talent and making the night so memorable. As Medicaid changes, what support do New Yorkers experiencing homelessness need? We asked people with lived experience to share their perspectives, from getting clear, timely information to finding help navigating the process. Their voices belong at the center of conversations about access.

Congratulations to our President and CEO George Nashak, who was honored with the Sr. Barbara Lenniger Legacy Award at Homeless Services United (HSU)’s Legacy in Action Gala last night!

The award recognizes George’s distinguished career in service to New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, including his transformative leadership at Care For the Homeless. Under his leadership, CFH has grown into a $68 million-plus provider of healthcare. shelter, and social services, expanding our reach and impact across New York City.

We are proud to celebrate George and the lasting legacy he continues to build. Congratulations to all of last night’s honorees for their leadership, service, and dedication to strengthening New York City’s homeless services sector.

Health care is foundational to stability for people experiencing homelessness. When coverage is interrupted, people can lose access to primary and behavioral health care, medications, and the services that help them manage their health and move forward. As Medicaid changes take shape, protecting continuous coverage and access to care will require informed, coordinated action across health care, homeless services, policy, and government. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of the changes ahead, the risks, the solutions, and the response.

For New Yorkers experiencing street homelessness, accessing health care and supportive services isn’t always as simple as walking through a clinic door. That’s why Care For the Homeless brings care directly to people where they are.

Through our Street Outreach Program, our team meets individuals where they are, providing compassionate support and medical intervention services while connecting people to ongoing healthcare, medication, shelter, benefits, and other critical resources.

Just as importantly, outreach is about building trust. Experiencing homelessness can be an incredibly unsettling and uncertain situation and establishing a trusted relationship can be an important first step toward accepting care and support. Our teams take the time to listen, build relationships, and meet each person with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Every interaction matters. Every connection can open a door to care. And every trusted relationship can help create a pathway toward greater health, safety, and stability.

Care shouldn’t depend on having an address.
