🏳️‍🌈 Pride Month is a celebration of q***r joy, resilience, self-expression, and community, but it’s also a reminder that creating safer spaces for LGBTQ+ people is a collective responsibility.

At Outsmart NYC, we work year-round to help build safer nightlife and community spaces through prevention education, bystander intervention, advocacy, and survivor-centered support. We’re honored to celebrate Pride by showing up for our community and helping create spaces where everyone can gather, connect, and express themselves safely.

This June, we’re proud to be part of:

✨ Logjammin’ VI – June 6
✨ Brooklyn Pride Parade – June 13
✨ Respect The Night – June 16
✨ Punk Island – June 27
✨ Manhattan Pride March – June 28

More details to come and additional details available on our events calendar accessible via our website (link in bio).

We’re especially excited for Respect The Night, an interactive Pride event focused on creating safer q***r nightlife spaces. Join us for conversations on bystander intervention, harm reduction, collective care, and practical skills we can all use to help keep our communities safe, plus food, music, activities, and opportunities to connect with fellow community members.

Pride is about celebrating who we are, showing up for one another, and building communities where everyone can thrive. Through education, advocacy, and community care, we’re committed to helping make nightlife safer and more welcoming for all.

We hope to see you this month. Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈💜

Huge thank you to and for inviting OutSmart NYC to present our Safer Spaces In Music & Nightlife workshop 💜

OutSmart NYC team members and led conversations around consent culture, community care, conflict de-escalation, harm prevention, and creating safer nightlife spaces for artists, staff, and attendees alike.

One of the most exciting outcomes from the workshop was beginning work on a contract addendum that helps make codes of consent and accountability clearer between artists, bookers, venue owners, managers, and promoters throughout the booking process. More details on that coming soon 👀

Check out the recap carousel above for some highlights from the workshop, community discussion, and collaborative visioning toward a safer nightlife culture.

Enjoy this recap from our time at the Denim Day rally at Borough Hall last week, closing out Sexual Assault Awareness Month 💙

We were honored to stand in solidarity, uplift survivors, and witness such powerful performances and a fab denim fashion show! 👖 Moments like this remind us why we do the work.

At Outsmart NYC, our mission is rooted in creating safer nightlife spaces, promoting consent culture, and supporting one another, values that are reflected in SAAM and Denim Day.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made it meaningful.

Today, we stood together on the steps of City Hall alongside our partners in the Sexual Assault Initiative (SAI) to advocate for stronger, more accessible support for survivors across NYC.

This coalition represents a powerful network of organizations working every day to prevent violence, support healing, and close critical gaps in services, especially in under-resourced communities.

We’re grateful to EVERYONE who showed up, spoke out, and stood with survivors and providers in calling for the resources needed to sustain and expand this work.

Because every survivor deserves care, access, and a system that shows up for them, fully.

It was powerful to be in a room full of people who care deeply about building safer, more consent-forward nightlife spaces.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared, and poured into this experience with us. This is exactly what SAAM (Sexual Assault Awareness Month) is about ✨

We’ve got more events coming up throughout the month. Tap the link in our bio to check out our events calendar for all the details, and don’t miss what’s next.

Repost from .bk

Hello party people,

If there was ever a class that needed your attention, THIS IS THAT CLASS!

On April 8th, QNCC is hosting Safer Nights, Stronger Communities: Sexual Violence Prevention in Underground Spaces. Developed in collaboration with OutSmartNYC, this workshop will train nightlife workers to build safer, consent-forward nightlife spaces.

This one is for the underground and above-ground party promoters, club owners, event producers, wellness monitors, floor managers, bartenders, security staffers, EMTs, door girlies, installation artists—and of course, dance music lovers and regular-ass party-goers. Basically, all those of you who love and cherish our little world.

As members of the night-time economy, it’s our job to create temporary spaces for experimentation, play, and alternative ways of being. For some it’s a decompression valve, for others it’s a means of survival. The goal of Safer Nights is to provide the right tools to keep our venues safe for everyone to really live their fantasy.

Participants will consider safety throughout all stages of the party process: implementing consent-forward practices in preparations and communications, how to identify and intervene in sexual violence and practice de-escalation during an event, and, if harm happens, how to respond to disclosures in a trauma-informed way.

This training is free and open to the public; please be sure to reserve your free ticket (link in bio) to help us understand what capacity to prepare for.

See you there, in

This message resonates deeply with our work.

At Outsmart NYC, we partner with nightlife spaces, staff, and communities to help prevent harassment and sexual violence before it happens through bystander intervention training, harm-reduction education, and proactive safety strategies on the dancefloor.

Everyone deserves to move through nightlife feeling respected, autonomous, and safe. On International Women’s Day, we celebrate and stand with women across the full spectrum of womanhood including cis, trans, and gender-expansive people who experience misogyny and gender-based harm in these spaces.

Safer dancefloors are possible and they start with all of us. ♥️

.rave.girls

Filmed this last weekend, but it feels especially relevant today on International Women’s Day.

nyc rave girls was created to center women’s experiences on the dancefloor—and unfortunately intrusive interactions like this are incredibly common. I don’t know a single woman who hasn’t experienced some version of this while simply existing and trying to enjoy a night out.

It shouldn’t be a rarity for women to feel safe enough to dance, get lost in the music, and be left alone. And it shouldn’t be on us to manage men’s behavior either.
