BID 2026: Peace, Love & City Harvest is less than two weeks away! We’re getting groovy with tasting stations from more than 50 of NYC’s top chefs, restaurants, and mixologists—including ATOBOY, Wayan, and Bangkok Supper Club, far out entertainment, and incredible live and silent auctions.

Many thanks to our supporters for kicking off the fun in their DKNY shirts with artwork by Mario Avila.

Check out all featured restaurants and get your ticket today at the link in our bio. We hope to see you at The Glasshouse on October 28!

With 1 in 5 New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity, and 1 in 4 New York City children, our neighbors are depending on us to provide access to nutritious food. Mobile Markets are our farmers’ market-style food distributions where we provide millions of pounds of fresh produce, free of charge, every year to New Yorkers in need across the five boroughs.

Visit the link in our bio to find a Mobile Market near you or to support our work.

Thank you to the team at Whole Foods Market Union Square for filling our Nourishing Our Neighborhoods van with 1,500 pounds of fresh produce and pantry staples, including onions, oranges, carrots, tomato sauce, peanut butter, and more. We are neighbors helping neighbors, and donations like this help ensure New Yorkers have access to the food they need to thrive.

In collaboration with Food Bank For New York City we were able to provide a new walk-in refrigerator and freezer to Life Together Works NYC, one of our partner food pantries in the Bronx. This will allow them to accept and distribute more food, add another distribution day for seniors, lengthen distribution hours, and expand their distribution type to client-choice so that children, working parents, and seniors can access the fresh foods they need to thrive.

This investment comes at a critical time. Right now, 1 in 5 New Yorkers, and 1 in 4 New York City children, is food insecure. Together, we will feed our city—one day, one meal, and one New Yorker at a time.

Pantry Projects, formerly known as Grocery Rebuilds, are back this October!

The majority of food we rescue and deliver is fresh produce, but we also provide items that are highly desired by our food pantry partners such as cooking oil, rice, and pasta. Volunteers will join us inside our Food Rescue Center in Sunset Park to create mixed pallets of these items to make it easier for our food pantry partners to receive and distribute.

Register for a Pantry Project today at cityharvest.org/volunteer.

City Harvest Produce Pals brings fresh produce to families at our partner schools across the city. Last week, we distributed bags of squash, eggplant, oranges, potatoes, carrots, and more to families at PS 177 The Marlboro School in Brooklyn.

In a city where 1 in 4 children does not always know where their next meal is coming from, Produce Pals makes food distribution as convenient as possible for families so that students have access to the nutritious foods they need to thrive.

26,500 New Yorkers have lost SNAP benefits over the last few months due to new work-reporting requirements included in H.R. 1. If you were impacted, you are eligible to re-apply for SNAP benefits as of October 1 by visiting Access HRA online.

We are committed to working alongside the City and our partners to ensure that all New Yorkers can put food on the table.

We will continue to advocate for access to these benefits and are scaling up our food rescue and delivery operations to provide 100 million pounds of nutritious food to New Yorkers in need this year—11% more than last year—in response to the need we are seeing in the five boroughs.

To find free food across NYC, visit cityharvest.org/FindFood.

We are excited to welcome Max Wittawat, executive chef and partner at Bangkok Supper Club, to our Food Council! Thank you, Max Wittawat, for standing with us as we rescue nutritious, high-quality food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it for free to food pantries and soup kitchens across the five boroughs.

Yesterday for Hunger Action Day, Ellie Krieger joined us for a volunteer shift in partnership with Feeding America. Volunteers helped pack 6,012 family-sized bags of produce, including sweet potatoes, beets, white potatoes, and carrots, that will be distributed to New Yorkers in need, free of charge.

Thank you to our volunteers for standing with us for Hunger Action Day! Learn more about our volunteer opportunities at cityharvest.org/volunteer.

Today is Hunger Action Day and never has there been a greater need for action against hunger. We’re breaking down two of the H.R.1 impacts that are going into effect this week and will impact our fellow New Yorkers, especially the 1.6 million New Yorkers who depend on SNAP to put food on the table.

City Harvest alone cannot fill the gap created by SNAP cuts. But in response, and with the support of our NYC community, we are stepping up to rescue and deliver 100 million pounds of food this year—11% more than last year because of the how great the need is.

As of Thursday, October 1, SNAP recipients who have lost benefits in the last few months because of changes in work reporting requirements can reapply to get SNAP again. To find free food across NYC, visit cityharvest.org/FindFood and to reapply for SNAP, visit Access HRA.

Also starting on Thursday, October 1, 75% of the cost to administer SNAP will shift from the federal government to the city for the first time in history, creating a $110 million hole that the city will need to figure out how to cover.
