Brooklyn Arbor Parent Association

Brooklyn Arbor Parent Association The Brooklyn Arbor PA believes in bringing together the school community to support development of a well-rounded child.

We strive to provide enrichment opportunities for students through additional education curriculum such as music , greening, and art as well as community events. Our seasonal festivities, educational fairs, and fundraising benefits rely on the help of volunteers within our Brooklyn Arbor family. We invite you to join our efforts by donating any time, talent, or resources you can spare in support of our year-round events.

🚨 BIG NEWS 🚨

The state of the art wellness lab is finally underway! And is set to be completed by Dec 1st.

What wellness lab? On the 2nd floor they will combine two classrooms (that’s right, remove a wall) and Ms Reed will have an amazing Kitchen AND hydroponics lab that all K-5th graders will visit weekly.

While construction finishes Ms Reed will push into our student’s classrooms for instruction. And she needs our help with her “classroom on the go”

🌱She has a donors choose project up and right now there’s a match with the code READY 🌱

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation please see the link in our bio. And don’t forget to change the percent that donor choose keeps to ZERO. (Swipe for pics on how to do that)

We also have five amazing classroom teachers with projects up. We will not know class placements until early September but if you see one of your favorite teachers from the past maybe you want to pay it forward and show them some love đź’•

Congratulations to Brooklyn Arbor Elementary’s very own Ms. Williams for winning the prestigious 2026 Teaching Excellence Award from the Computer Science Teachers Association of New York!

This honor recognizes Ms. Williams’ outstanding dedication to breaking barriers, expanding
access to coding education, and preparing our students for a world powered by computing.

Théa Williams has been teaching technology and computer science since 2017. She serves
as a Teacher Trainer for the Computer Science for All (CS4All) initiative at the New York City
Department of Education, where she champions equitable access to high-quality computing
education. With a strong background in classroom teaching and instructional leadership, she
has dedicated her career to empowering educators and dismantling systemic barriers in STEM fields. As a key leader on the CS4All Equity Team, Thea specializes in culturally responsive-sustaining education (CRSE), helping teachers design inclusive practices that
reflect and honor their students’ diverse backgrounds.

Through her transformative professional development sessions and strategic coaching, she has equipped many of NYC’s educators with the tools to build meaningful, identity-affirming computer science classrooms. We are incredibly proud to have such an innovative educator.
