International Sports and Music Project Our Vision

ISMP believes in the uplifting power of sports and music to transform lives. Why Music and Sports?

The International Sports and Music Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit org that uses sports and music to bring healing and joy to kids in schools, refugee camps, and shelters in the USA and around the world. The International Sports and Music Project enables kids around the world to enjoy music and sports by providing essential resources such as equipment, instruments and teaching materials. We empow

er kids to enjoy sports and music by providing them with the resources they need. Music and sports serve similar purposes for a child, whether that child is in a school in Pohnpei, Micronesia, an orphanage in Kigali, Rwanda or a homeless shelter in Brooklyn, New York. Music and sports give children opportunities to feel empowered, to be creative, to develop life skills and to get away from the struggles faced in everyday life. Studies repeatedly find that kids who play music and/or sports gain access to a plethora of benefits including more complex brain development, higher school achievement (e.g., math, reading, SAT scores, graduation rates, etc.) and many other indicators of long-term social, economic and emotional well-being.

Big news from the ISMP family. 🧡💙

We’re thrilled to share that ISMP board member Jeremy Schaap will be competing on ESPN Jeopardy! — representing the International Sports and Music Project.

Jeremy has spent decades telling some of the most meaningful stories in sports. We’ve been fortunate to know him in another role as well—as a dedicated board member, generous supporter, and trusted friend of ISMP.

To have Jeremy represent ISMP on the Alex Trebek Stage is an incredible honor, and we’re grateful to have someone of his integrity and stature helping shine a spotlight on our mission.

The tournament premieres July 31 on Disney+, Hulu, and the ESPN app. We’ll share more details as we learn more about the tournament schedule.
