El Puente Summer Urban Arts Intensive

El Puente Summer Urban Arts Intensive Youth create original artistic works that speak to the stories of their communities and histories connected to social movements throughout time!

El Puente Arts is Brooklyn's most comprehensive Latino arts and cultural Center. Our mission is to use the arts as a tool for social change, engaging artists and activists in the creation and facilitation of arts projects and training focused on artistic mastery and community development. The Center provides pre professional training in dance, drama, voice, dj/scratch, filmmaking, studio/mural art

, graphic design and Hip-Hop. Additionally, El Puente organizes and supports CADRE (Community Artists' Development & Resource Exchange), a network of local artists, artisans and cultural workers. Together, we advocate for equitable access to artistic and cultural expression; create forums for creative exchange and collaboration; incubate individual and collective projects; and present and exhibit works that honor and celebrate the cultural diversity and artistic richness of our North Brooklyn communities.

It's Official! Our Summer Urban Arts Intensive: Urban Roots registration packets are ready to be picked up by any interested students High School Students or Recently Graduated 8th and 12th Graders!

Pick up your registration packet at 211 South 4th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211 (The Location of the Program) 930AM-6PM

This year the intensive will be creating original works that speak the stories of our Young People their communities and histories- using Theatre, Dance, Song, Visual Art and Breaking/Hip Hop Dance!

Students can choose a medium that they want to focus on for the Summer and really get the skills and create from with the guidance of a Master Teaching Facilitator.

Sign Ups MUST be completed the end of the week of July 11, 2016 to be considered for classes.

All students are welcome to take THEATRE which will be the only class taking place from 2:00PM-3:30PM Monday-Thursday.

AND select one more class that will take place 3:30PM-6:00PM on Monday-Thursday

DANCE, VOCAL, BREAKING, VISUAL ART

And FRIDAYS we will have Masters Classes in arts with Guest Artists!

Happy End of the School Year Family!

As the school year ends Summer Epicness ensues! Please share the below information with your network especially if they are based in Brooklyn, but we do have students coming from all over NYC including the BX!

We'd like to invite all 9th-12th Grade Students (*including Graduating 8th Grade- Graduating Seniors) to take part in El Puente Williamsburg Leadership Center's Annual Summer Urban Arts Intensive.

The El Puente Williamsburg Summer Urban Arts Intensive is a comprehensive Arts and Social Justice program that provides students with pre-professional performing, literary and visual arts training, while producing work that reflects social justice issues that are important to our young people and their communities.

The program takes place during the 7 weeks of 07/06/15- 08/21/15. Students will engage in intensive training 4-5 days a week, with professional Arts facilitators in Classic/Cultural Dance, BBoy/BGirl, Drama, Singing and Visual Art.

The Brooklyn Takes Broadway 2 program will engage young people in a current and classical Broadway repertoire that will speak to issues that affect their communities and daily lives. They will also be working to build a large ensemble with one another stressing emphasis of building community through the Arts.
