At this month’s STEAM Saturday, our partners at Museum at Eldridge Street led a workshop on the history of stained glass lighting and design in sacred spaces, and a hands-on activity for visitors of all ages. Participants got to experiment with patterns, shapes and color to create their own stained glass-inspired projects 💡

The Lewis Latimer House would not be here today without the support of community members. This was especially true in 1988, when the Lewis Latimer House was scheduled to be demolished, and local residents of Flushing came together to protect it. Latimer’s grandchildren, Winifred and Gerald, created the “Save the Latimer House Committee” to preserve their grandfather’s legacy and save the house from demolition.
