TRAVEL and TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS for Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 Season:

Tryouts will be conducted in a 3 phase process: 
* PHASE I: March 14th-15th: Open Tryouts for External players and Core players considering tournament or travel
* PHASE II: April 18th: All current tournament players and those invited back from Phase I
* PHASE III: April 25th: All current travel players and those invited from Phase I & II

**CURRENT TOURNAMENT & TRAVEL PLAYERS DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS**

Tournament Team eligibility applies only  to Core players through U12. Players U13 and above may only try out for the Travel Program.

Registration for our spring season is ongoing, but the price increases to $300 on February 1st! Head to WSSL.org and sign in or make an account to sign up before the end of the month to save $100.

WSSL’s core division is our weekend rec soccer program for players from preschool through high school. All levels are welcome. We are an all-volunteer run, non-profit organization and need-based financial aid is available for all our programs.

The 2025 WSSL Parent Games will take place on Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th!

* Friday, November 28th – deadline for registration
* Grown-ups only, no kids allowed in the games

Often referred to as the “best day of the year,” the games are adult-only, co-ed (one game is women-only), and welcoming of all levels. Never played in a WSSL Parent Game? That’s OK! Start stretching and conditioning now.

Who: You. The games are open to ALL WSSL parents/guardians and volunteers, regardless of skill level.
What: Soccer (or our best approximation of the beautiful game).
When: Saturday, December 6th - games at 11:20am, 12:40pm, women’s game at 2:00pm, and Sunday, December 7th - games at 9:00am, 10:20am and 11:40am
Where: 107th and Riverside Park
Why: Because while our kids are getting older, faster and stronger, we’re only getting… smarter. Also: it’s fun!

Our penultimate weekend of fall soccer has arrived! And: it’s “silent soccer” (you can read more about it on our website under the “about” tab)

* Be sure that players and spectators dress for the cool weather (layers!)
* Sign up for next core skills next week (early session only now because of time change)
* Check email/wssl.org for possible time and field adjustments (due to earlier sunset and/or field conditions with rain forecast overnight)

West Side Soccer League’s first-ever travel program-wide (fall) preseason was a fantastic kickoff!

* Our players were among the lucky first to experience the newly turfed Dyckman field—complete with the crowd-favorite water mister, which quickly became a hit with the kids.

*WSSL runs on volunteers* There are lots of opportunities to join us as a volunteer for the Fall Season.

Referees are one of the most needed volunteer roles. We have referee training classes scheduled in advance of the fall season!
• Fridays September 5 and 12 at 4PM for the 40 minute zoom 8U (first level) class.
• Saturday or Sunday September 6 and 7 we have our regional (second level) in-person on-field training classes.
• Head to our website (WSSL.org) and find information under the “volunteers” tab

Coach classes and certifications are also scheduled— check WSSL.org to see the details (schedule varies based on player age)

We also need AED custodians in order to comply with state law that requires us to have this life-saving equipment at all practices and games. We will hold training on Tuesday September 9 and Wednesday September 10 at 6PM at Crossbar. Check your email or reach out to [email protected] for more information.

Finally, mark your calendars for our annual equipment exchange on September 14, and reach out to [email protected] if you are able to volunteer and help out at the event.

We are completely volunteer-run and non-profit. We count on our community to make our programs safe, accessible and fun for all children who want to participate!

UPDATE: THIS EVENT WILL BE ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 21

WSSL is holding our annual equipment exchange on Sunday, September 21 (formerly scheduled for the 14th) at the 101st St Field, Riverside Park (near the stone wall at the southern end of the field) from 10AM-2PM. Bring something, take something you need— it’s all good!

RULE OF THUMB: Pass along gear that you would be willing to reuse yourself.

*This can only be possible with the help of volunteers. If you are willing to sort gear and/or clean-up, please email [email protected]
