We Are Not Your Soldiers looks forward to engaging in dialogue with many students in their classes and organizations during the fall and spring academic semesters of 2026/27. Scheduling is on now for class visits. Where possible we will be there in person but can always speak via remote technology as well. At this moment in our country, these presentations and the discussions around them are more relevant than ever.

It’s impossible to document, or even acknowledge all of the grievous crimes by the U.S. and its allies over the last 25 years in the name of revenge for the attack on 9/11. The people who run this country want us to think history started with 9/11, that they were just driven to develop new ways to respond to save “democracy.”

Consider Trump’s campaign of citizen assassination, Operation Southern Spear, reported to be largely killing fishermen with drone strikes. In New York City, the anniversary of 9/11 — the destruction of the World Trade Center and the loss of more than 3,000 lives — has often been a huge event, mainly for politicians to claim the mantle of fighters for “freedom.” This year, locally, the main news coverage has been on fascist efforts to keep NYC Mayor Mamdani away, because of his Muslim faith.

25th Commemoration Event - Standing Together: A Walk and Vigil With September 11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows
5:00 Gather in Union Square Park to recommit to peace and justic
6:00 Walk from Union Square Park to Ground Zero
7:15 Silent Vigil at Ground Zero
This 25th anniversary of 9/11 will feature a rare surge of attention to 9/11 and its aftermath, centering peace and peacemaking efforts. The event starts with a program at Union Square, site of some of the first peace actions after 9/11. Among the speakers in Union Square are Kathy Kelly and Masuda Sultan (an Afghani-American woman who tirelessly advocated for the civilian victims of the U.S. invasion) along with human rights attorneys, antiwar veterans and others.

Your support means a lot for us as we look forward to an active Fall semester. As school hasn’t even started yet, we haven’t even begun our outreach to educators. But, we’ve already received two exciting invitations — one to facilitate a Q&A to two college student organizations doing a military-connected film screening and another to three community college classes. Your contributions make all this possible as educators, students and schools are not charged for our presentations. Aside from our very minimal operating expenses small stipends are given to the veterans who speak.
