Mail ballots need time to move. Plan ahead now. 📬

Voting by early mail or absentee ballot is an important option for many New Yorkers, but timing matters.

For the June 23, 2026 Primary Election, your early mail or absentee ballot must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 23. But the League recommends mailing it before June 23, and ideally at least one week earlier, to help make sure it is received and counted.

A postmark does not simply mean the moment you place your ballot in a mailbox. It reflects when your ballot reaches a USPS processing facility, which is why mailing early is one of the best ways to avoid last-minute issues.

If you’re voting by mail, send your ballot early or use an in-person return option. Visit vote.nyc for ballot deadlines and return information. Request an early mail or absentee ballot at requestballot.vote.nyc
