Since September 2012, Joy Sabimbona has been the reassuring first point of contact for thousands of patients and families walking through the doors of Village Health Works. As our Lead Cashier, she doesn't just manage transactions; she ensures that every single person seeking care feels valued, respected, and deeply welcomed.

Over the last 14 years, Joy has grown alongside VHW. She has mastered complex hospital management software like OpenClinic and financial systems like Xero, blending high-level professionalism with grassroots empathy.

For Joy, working at VHW is a calling to protect the vulnerable. Her dream is to see our ecosystem continue to expand as a shining model for health and transformative education across Africa.

Through dedicated team members like Joy, VHW continues to create a caring environment where every patient is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

🎉 Last Friday, the Fordham-KIA Youth Impact Program announced the winners of its pitch competition, recognizing our brilliant student entrepreneurs’ innovative ideas.

From helping disabled people feel included through art and fighting malnutrition by providing affordable mushrooms, to promoting local culture and creativity through social media, we are excited by the vision these students possess. Each initiative addresses a real community need, and we can’t wait to see these innovative youth leaders bring their community-driven projects to life.

Beyond the awards, where the winners took home a share of the $1,200 prize pool, this program empowers young leaders with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to turn their visions into reality.
