The children in La Paz, Honduras sat in schools with no windows, a leaking roof, termite infested shelving, and few school supplies. The medical equipment in a local hospital lacked proper equipment to treat their patients.
The need is never-ending.
Operation La Paz, founded in 2008 by Suntree Rotary Club members Woody & Linda McDaniel, stepped in and has worked alongside other religious and non-government organizations to assist in any way they could. They worked to build, repair, and renovate several schools in the local community, including adding much needed playground equipment among other things.
Over the years the Suntree Rotary Club, together with Operation La Paz and the support of two different Rotary global grants, have help address the needs of the hospital and the local communities with clean water and hygiene projects.
Recently Operation La Paz was honored to support a Nurturing Father’s Program for the second year in a row. This life-changing program helps fathers strengthen their relationships with their children, build healthy families, and become positive role models in their communities. The graduates of this program were congratulated for their commitment, hard work, and dedication. The lessons learned will have a lasting impact on their families for years to come.
Operation LaPaz thanked Professor Jesús Castillo for leading this program with such care and dedication, to Pastor Junior and his wife, Rosa, for graciously hosting the program each, and to Mia for providing the graduation shirts and diplomas, helping make this milestone even more special.
