As many of our 8th-grade families begin navigating the high school application process, I want to offer a little reassurance from a parent who went through it last year.

There are many great public high schools in New York City. The goal isn’t simply to get into a “great” school. It’s to find the right school for your child.

Every child is different. Some thrive in large schools, others in smaller communities. Some are drawn to STEM, the arts, humanities, sports, debate, or specialized programs. The key is understanding your child’s interests, needs, and personality and finding schools where they can thrive.

The process can feel overwhelming, but there are many excellent options and many different paths to a great four years.

Please join the PTA on Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 PM for a special IS 318 PTA webinar with Maurice Frumkin, an NYC high school admissions expert. Maurice will help families understand the application process, evaluate their options, and approach the months ahead with more knowledge and confidence.

Come with your questions. You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Great schools. Different paths. The right fit for your child.

Our school community is facing an urgent challenge. IS 318 recently lost approximately $900k in Title I funding. Although the City is providing $500,000 this year, we still face a critical $400,000 gap.

This funding directly supports the people, resources, and opportunities our children rely on. Without additional support, we risk losing:

👩‍🏫 Paraprofessionals who help support our students
📚 Library books and learning resources
🏀 Extracurricular activities and athletics
❄️ Classroom air conditioning

OUR PLEDGE DRIVE TO OFFSET THE LOSS OF TITLE I FUNDING IS LIVE NOW UNTIL NOV 1ST

Our students, teachers, and programs are counting on us. Together, we can meet this moment and keep 318 strong.

GET INVOLVED! Want to volunteer or share fundraising ideas? We would love your help. Please contact the PTA to get involved.
