Renewable Heat Now is a campaign organized by Alliance for a Green Economy, New Yorkers for Clean Power, NY-GEO, HeatSmart Tompkins, Sane Energy Project, and Frack Action. We have joined together to accelerate the adoption of ground-source (geothermal) and air-source heat pumps in New York to reduce the amount of fossil fuels used to heat and cool our homes and workplaces. We also advocate for New

York State policies that will enable all New Yorkers to afford to make the switch to these renewable-ready heating and cooling technologies.

On Governor Hochul’s Climate Law Rollbacks:

“At a time when we are facing an energy affordability crisis caused by our dependence on fossil fuels, it’s unconscionable that Governor Hochul has undermined New York’s best chance to transition to clean, affordable energy,” said Lisa Marshall on behalf of the Renewable Heat Now Campaign.

“The impact of weakening New York’s Climate Law will be felt by families in the form of higher energy bills, increased air pollution, and the worsening of the climate crisis. The winners of gutting the Climate Law, however, will be utility companies and fossil fuel corporations that have lobbied against climate action in order to continue to profit from selling fossil fuels and investing in more fossil fuel infrastructure. Every New Yorker should be outraged that Governor Hochul put profits over people.“

We are heartbroken, yet we remain determined to continue our work to build resilient communities with cleaner air, healthy homes, lower energy bills, and good union jobs can and must continue.

We’re running out of time to stop Governor Hochul from gutting our state’s climate law in the budget. Join us in Albany — RSVP at the link in bio!

We’re asking legislators this simple question: Will you stand with fossil fuel billionaires or with the families from Buffalo to Long Island who need lower bills, cleaner air, and a livable planet?

The budget deal is almost finished. It’s our last chance to show up in person to protect our futures. We already have the tools to switch to clean energy; we just need our leaders to have the courage to use them!

👀75% of what you're paying every month goes to delivery charges. That's the cost of pipelines that utilities profit from building and replacing, passed straight to you. Nearly half of those delivery charges go to profits and new construction 📈. You didn't ask for any of it but you're covering all of it!

And this is why bills keep going up even when you're not using more energy. The system is just expensive to run and you're the one paying for it. 💸

Methane = “natural” gas = costly fossil fuel

Governor Hochul is trying to weaken NY’s climate law with loopholes that make “natural” gas (methane) seem safe. It isn’t.
