Tomorrow night! 📖✨

On Thursday, May 28th at 8:00 PM (EST), I have the absolute honor of joining Matrix Collective Poet, Janet Jennerjohn, to celebrate the release of her beautiful new chapbook, The Moment Before (published by Woodland Pattern).

This project holds a special place in my heart. Many of these poems began during the Matrix Collective’s generative writing sessions. They utilize a creative tool—the matrix—that I originally developed for Community-Word Project’s collaborative arts residencies. Seeing how this tool continues to spark collective language and beautiful new poetry week after week is incredibly moving.

I’m excited to be sharing poems that were born directly from these sessions alongside Janet’s! The reading is taking place live at the amazing Milwaukee literary arts center, Woodland Pattern, and will be fully livestreamed.

👉 Join us virtually! Link in bio!

📌 If you click the link ahead of time and hit the “Crowdcast” button, you can save your spot by leaving your email. They will send you a direct link right when we go live!

What a night!

Words can’t express our gratitude but we’ll try! 🤍

This benefit wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible village behind it. To our amazing vendors, our talented students, our dedicated TAs, our hardworking staff, our visionary board of directors, and our generous donors. You made the magic happen. 💫

Every moment captured is a reflection of your generosity, passion, and commitment to our mission. We are endlessly grateful. 🤍

Every year, our community gathers to write our future. Every year, we are reminded what’s possible when people believe in the power of young voices. Thank you for being part of our journey!

There is something that happens when a room full of people decides, together, to believe in something.

To every artist, student, dreamer, and supporter who was part of Community-Word Project’s annual benefit, Writing Our Future, last week: Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! To everyone who showed up, gave generously, and believes in the power of creative voice: Thank you!

Some people show up to a benefit. Samantha Dion Baker shows up with her sketchbook. ✏️

At our Writing for Our Future Benefit, longtime friend and supporter drew live, capturing the performers and speakers who filled the room with words, music, and meaning. The scene she created that evening is a gift we’ll carry long after the night ended.
Samantha’s work is a daily practice of presence.

Her books, Draw Your Day, Draw Your World, and Draw Your Adventures, have inspired thousands to see their lives as worth documenting. We feel that. Deeply.

Her first adult coloring book, Color Your World, arrives June 16th. Pick it up wherever books are sold.

Thank you, Samantha, for witnessing our community the way you do and for drawing it with such tenderness and care. We are so grateful you are part of ours.

Kristin, your dedication to our students and your incredible commitment means the world to us. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! 🏃‍♀️✨

It’s not too late to support Kristin and the kids of NYC! Any donation goes directly toward bringing arts education into underserved schools, helping students build confidence, strengthen literacy, and find their creative voice.

They say it takes a village, but we prefer a collective. 🤝🎨

The Teaching Artist Project Class of 2026 has officially crossed the finish line! This cohort of 23 multidisciplinary artists has spent the year sharing space, swapping skills, and reimagining what it means to be a teaching artist.

To the class of 2026, May your practice be bold and your classrooms be brave. We can’t wait to see what you create next.
