Schools That Can NYC

Schools That Can NYC STC NYC supports cross-sector schools serving low-income students by providing a forum for sharing and learning best practices to drive school improvement.

STC New York City (STC NYC) is a local network of leaders within the national Schools That Can network. We bring together outstanding leaders from district, independent, charter, & faith-based schools to break down sector-specific silos and refocus the dialogue on what works. Through monthly Roundtables, Study Tours, Workshops, and local partnerships, leaders learn from one another’s success and s

upport each other in overcoming the challenges inherent in running a high-performing urban school. Through collaborative sharing, participating schools have implemented new teacher observation systems and technologies, incorporated data analysis and planning templates, and adopted innovative curricula and assessment strategies. Participants indicate that they leave STC events with tangible resources to support continued improvement across their schools in the areas of leadership, culture, and instruction.

begins before a student graduates high school! In STC's work, we build career readiness, job exploration, and development of critical workforce skills into the school day, so every student has access to tools and support needed to thrive in whatever postsecondary pathway they pursue. Whether it's a 2-or-4 year degree, trade and vocational education and CTE programs, or going directly into the workforce, every student deserves the chance to make an informed choice on their next steps, and find a path that's fulfilling to them!
