We must reject the false choice between Jewish safety and democracy.

We can and must confront antisemitism while defending due process, civil liberties, and the democratic institutions that have allowed Jewish communities to thrive in America for 250 years.

Today marks 52 years since the Equal Educational Opportunities Act established a national commitment to ensuring every student can learn free from discrimination.

That promise remains as important as ever. We need schools where all students and educators – including Jews – can learn and teach without fear, harassment, or discrimination.

We’re proud of our partnerships with AFT and NEA Today to work toward more inclusive schools. On this anniversary, we recommit to ensuring equal educational opportunity for every student.

Congregations large and small are feeling the weight of rising antisemitism — and wondering whether it’s safe to gather, worship, and celebrate.

Last week’s attack at Central Synagogue is a painful reminder that such fear can become reality. Our communities need real action.

The Jewish American Security Act would strengthen the tools we need to protect Jewish - and all - communities.

No policy can fully eliminate antisemitism, but campuses need clear systems to address it. Strengthening civil rights enforcement helps ensure Jewish students — and all students — have a place to report harassment and that those reports are taken seriously.

The bipartisan Jewish American Security Act helps address antisemitism and hate on campus and in schools by funding a Department of Education antisemitism coordinator & Title VI coordinators at federally-funded colleges.

NEW: JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick spoke with The Contrarian about Jewish safety, democracy, antisemitism, and the importance of rejecting false binaries.

As she explains, fighting antisemitism and protecting our democracy are not competing priorities. They are deeply connected — and our safety depends on building a truly inclusive, pluralistic democracy.

As students and educators head back to school, we're celebrating the partnerships that help make classrooms more welcoming, inclusive, and supportive for everyone.

Through our work with AFT and NEA Today, JCPA is helping equip educators with resources to address antisemitism, strengthen relationships, and ensure Jewish — and all — students and educators can thrive.

2025 FBI hate crime data confirms that Jews remain the most targeted religious community in America, accounting for 66% of all religion-based hate crimes.

But we also see how Jewish safety is interconnected with the safety of our neighbors.

We need a whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach to build resilience to hate and extremism.

Nobody should have to keep an eye on the exit while they pray.

Last night’s incident at Central Synagogue is yet another example of rising antisemitism and hate — and the urgency of comprehensive investments to push back.

Heidi Beirich has done more to protect our communities from hate and defend our democracy than almost anyone. I’ve worked closely with her for years, first during my Charlottesville work and now at JCPA. She is courageous, patriotic, and brilliant.

The fact that the Trump administration is coming after her tells you everything you need to know.

I also want to be very clear: Heidi has been a tireless ally and partner to the Jewish community in fighting antisemitism. If we can’t stand up for her now, I don’t know what we’re doing.
