Before we usher in SEASON VII, we have to take a moment.

To look back. To say thank you. And to recognize just how extraordinary Season VI was. ā™¦ļø

A season of growth, risk, resilience—and some very big dreams becoming real.

ā™¦ļø Celebrated six years of CLYMOVE
ā™¦ļø Created & premiered new work, including Quiet Rebellion
ā™¦ļø Welcomed Ashley Kaylynn Green’s Continuum into our repertory
ā™¦ļø Completed TWO TOURS, bringing CLYMOVE beyond NYC
ā™¦ļø Named a Critics’ Pick for Best Show at Orlando Fringe
ā™¦ļø Returned to New York Live Arts for our Sixth Anniversary Season
ā™¦ļø Celebrated women’s mentorship & artistic lineage at our Annual Gala, proudly honoring Dr. Phyllis A. Penney, Ed.D.
ā™¦ļø Expanded to and employed a full company of eight dancers
ā™¦ļø Commissioned new music & deepened artistic collaborations
ā™¦ļø Brought community outreach to children, middle school & high school students in New York and Florida

But some of what we’re proudest of can’t be measured in performances, tours, awards, or press.

It happened in the rehearsal room.

The risks. The conversations. The laughter. The difficult days we worked through together. The trust required to make something from nothing. The dancers who gave themselves fully to the work—and the community that continued to show up for us.

To our dancers, collaborators, board, donors, audiences, presenters, friends, families, teachers, mentors—and everyone who believed in this little company with a very big heart:

THANK YOU.

CLYMOVE exists because you move with us.

Six seasons brought us here. And now…

SEASON VII. MOVE WITH US.

THANK YOU!

We are so incredibly grateful for the overwhelming response to our CLYMOVE audition call. We have reached capacity for submissions, and we’re genuinely blown away—and happily overwhelmed—by the level of interest in joining us for Season VII.

After reviewing an incredible pool of artists, we have selected 16 dancers to move forward to our callback process.

Thank you to every single dancer who submitted and shared your artistry with us. The talent, individuality, and generosity we saw made these decisions incredibly difficult.

To our 16 callback dancers—we can’t wait to get into the studio with you.

Season VII is already moving. šŸ’«

Some goodbyes carry the weight of an entire era.

Today, we honor JoVonna Parks—an artist who helped build CLYMOVE from the ground up.

JoVonna has stood beside me through every stage of CLYMOVE’s evolution—from ambitious dreams and humble beginnings to celebrated performances, national tours, new creations, standing ovations, and countless hours in the studio that no audience will ever see. She has witnessed every chapter, and in so many ways, helped write them.

She embodied our mission with extraordinary grace: leading with compassion, creating with courage, mentoring generously, and reminding us that artistry is as much about humanity as it is about technique.

As Rehearsal Director, she became an anchor for the company. She challenged dancers to be their best while making them feel seen, valued, and supported. She earned the trust of every artist who shared the studio with her, and she earned mine many times over.

When I think about JoVonna, I don’t just think about the breathtaking performances or the countless roles she brought to life. I think about her laughter in rehearsal, her thoughtful observations, the way she could steady a room with her presence, and the unwavering commitment she brought to this work—even on the hardest days.

Building a dance company is never the work of one person. It is built by people who believe in something larger than themselves. JoVonna believed in CLYMOVE before many others did, and because of that belief, this organization is stronger, richer, and more compassionate.

While this chapter comes to a close, her legacy will remain woven into every corner of CLYMOVE. Every rehearsal process, every dancer she mentored, every work she helped shape, and every life she touched carries a piece of her.

JoVonna, thank you for giving so much of yourself to this company. Thank you for your artistry, your leadership, your friendship, and your faith in this vision. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to create alongside you.

And wherever your journey leads, you will always have a home at CLYMOVE.

With all my love and admiration,

Clymene Aldinger
Founder & Artistic Director, CLYMOVE Dance

NEW REVIEW/PRESS:

ā€œI learned that ā€œMartha Always Saidā€ by Aldinger, a repertory work which began the evening, contains in its title an ā€œartistic grandmotherā€ story. The title is a reference to Aldinger’s mentor, Elisa Monte, who had danced with Martha Graham. Monte would often introduce a critique or a suggestion with the preface, ā€œMartha always saidā€¦ā€ The idea is clever. The dance runs the gamut of emotions and relationships, with performers blustering each other, resisting, exchanging gestures, and kicking at each other. I surmise that this reflects the experience of mentorship and resistance to it. And that’s how it fits the theme of the evening: commenting on mentorship by examining its processes. ā€œWomen’s mentorship never did run smooth,ā€ the Bard might say.ā€
