📢NEW REVIEW/PRESS: “Aldinger’s “Quiet Rebellion,” a world premiere, seemed to give us the inner life of rebellion. A whisper, a refusal to disappear, subtle defiance. A woman’s prescription to other women on resisting totalitarianism and male domination while staying soft in a hardened world.”

At CLYMOVE, Pride is a celebration of authenticity, courage, and belonging.

As an organization rooted in mental health awareness, human connection, and the belief that every person deserves to be seen and valued, we recognize Pride Month as a time to honor the LGBTQIA+ community, reflect on the ongoing fight for equity, and celebrate the beauty of living truthfully.

Pride aligns with our commitment to creating spaces where artists can bring their whole selves into the studio, onto the stage, and into our community. We believe that creativity flourishes when people feel safe, supported, and empowered to express who they are.

This month, we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ artists, leaders, advocates, and community members whose voices, stories, and contributions continue to shape the arts and inspire change. We also acknowledge that Pride began as a movement for justice and remains a call to stand together against discrimination, stigma, and exclusion.

At CLYMOVE, Pride is more than a month—it is a commitment to compassion, inclusion, visibility, and care.

Happy Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈✨

On May 23rd, we celebrated the extraordinary life, artistry, and legacy of Elisa Monte on her 80th birthday.

Your vision transformed the landscape of modern dance — creating work that is fearless, emotionally charged, deeply human, and unmistakably your own. Through decades of groundbreaking choreography, you have inspired generations of dancers and artists to move with honesty, courage, and soul.

For CLYMOVE, your influence reaches far beyond the stage. Your mentorship, wisdom, and belief in artists have shaped not only our Artistic Director, Clymene Aldinger, but the heart of this company itself. The lessons you shared about discipline, artistry, resilience, authenticity, musicality, and humanity continue to live inside every rehearsal, every performance, and every risk we dare to take.

As a mentor, collaborator, and guiding artistic force, your impact is immeasurable. We honor the countless lives you have touched and the profound legacy you continue to build.

Happy 80th Birthday, Elisa.
With endless gratitude, admiration, and love — thank you for showing us what it means to dedicate a life to art.

This season asked a lot of all of us.

After an intense and beautiful NYC performance season, CLYMOVE Dance took a short pause for mental, emotional, and physical recuperation — a moment to breathe, reflect, heal, and process everything we created together.

But before we head fully into summer, we couldn’t let a few very special birthdays pass without celebration. 🥳

Happy Belated Birthday to:
♉️Company Dancer, Sophia Diehl — May 19
♉️Our Artistic Director, Clymene Aldinger — May 14
♊️And today, we celebrate our beloved Artistic Advisor, mentor, and dance legend Elisa Monte 💜

Thank you for the artistry, wisdom, generosity, resilience, and heart each of you brings to this community. The work we create is only possible because of the people behind it — and this season reminded us how important it is to honor not only the performance, but the humans inside the process.

Here’s to rest, reflection, mentorship, growth, and the next chapter ahead.
We love you all. 💜

Happy Mother’s Day from CLYMOVE Dance!

Today we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, chosen mothers, mentors, caregivers, teachers, and women who hold us up through every season of life and art. Your strength, sacrifice, creativity, tenderness, and resilience shape not only families, but entire communities.

At CLYMOVE, we honor those whose guidance and care make our work possible — in the studio, backstage, in the audience, and beyond.

With love and gratitude today and always.

“It was not lost on me, that was celebrating its centennial year at the same weekend we were at .” -Clymene Aldinger

“the theatrical, compelling “Martha Always Said” (2025). In this work for six – danced beautifully by Roxanne Young, JoVonna Parks, Bridget Cronin, Khalia Espinoza, Arianna Stendardo Gamble, and Samara Taylor – Aldinger traces stories she received from Elisa Monte, her longtime mentor. Monte, who danced with Martha Graham, would often refer to what, “Martha always said” in her reflections. Through Aldinger’s choreography, these memories physicalize into both comedic and tense scenes. Parks’ (embodying Martha Graham) and Young’s characters’ relationship particularly shines in this work. They challenge each other while simultaneously respecting each other, offering playful, yet audacious, movement exchanges. We experience scenes where the dancers demonstrate a longing for approval; a quivering in fear from scolding, or disapproval; and ultimately, an embracing of one’s true self, dancing in each performer’s most authentic movement language.” - Kristen Hedberg .hedberg
