It’s a new year, which means our Alternative Expression series is kicking off soon! Alternative Expression is a free, creativity-based program for our community that celebrates diverse ways of communicating and expressing ourselves. Through beginner-friendly weekly art classes, participants can engage at their own pace, with optional involvement in a culminating multimedia exhibition in March 2026. All materials are provided, membership and classes are free, and events will be held in the Chelsea area. The program is funded by a generous grant from the West Side Community Fund. Check out the images below to see artworks from previous years' classes. If you’re Autistic and interested in attending a class, please sign up for membership using the link here: https://www.autisticadultsnyc.org/join

Over the weekend, AANYC had a wonderful BIPOC event! Participants came together for a group listening and art-making session, sharing meaningful songs connected to their culture, upbringing, and personal memories. We had a wonderful time participating in this year’s Disability Pride Parade! Starting at Madison Square Park, we marched our way down Broadway with colorful posters and an incredible community of people. A few of our members were even interviewed by a journalist from Agence France-Press (AFP.com). Check out some highlights from the parade along with a link to the full interview here: https://www.barrons.com/news/autistic-adults-push-back-on-fear-based-trump-rhetoric-239d2ed7?reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
