American Trickster: The Hidden Lives of Carlos Castaneda 🌵🐺 Thank you so much to and for the truly fascinating conversation last night in Manhattan, exploring one of the MOST interesting and controversial figures in the psychedelic community. We’re super excited to read the new book. Pick up your copy of “American Trickster” from 📚 (not Amazon) directly support psychedelic authors and the publishers brave enough to explore this material!

Does YOUR path lead to Midtown this evening? 🤔

Well ours does. And did. And probably will again! It’s complicated (as all paths with heart tend to be.)

Join us this evening back at the Blue Building, former home of the Athenaeum (our psychedelic library). We’ll be hosting our next author event with Ru Marshall on their new book “American Trickster: The Many Lives of Carlos Castaneda”. In conversation with John Oakes.

There’s still some tickets left, so visit the link in our bio to sign up! Doors of Perception at 7pm.

Join us for our next Intimate Integration Circle next Thursday in Brooklyn. These are gently held evenings of reflection, connection, and support with Psychedelic Assembly Co-Founder Suzy Baker, in partnership with her new studio Liminal Yoga.

With a rich background in Psychedelic Integration, Yoga, Meditation, End-of-Life Care, and Religious Studies, Suzy holds space with grounded presence and deep care. Her work is informed by a wide range of spiritual traditions bringing a blend of helpful coaching and soulful friendship to each session. It’s a place to process experiences, explore life transitions, and reconnect with your own inner wisdom.

These regularly recurring circles offer an anchor point in the community. Judgement-free spaces where you can always show up just as you are. Share (or simply listen) at these spaces we curate as a consistent reminder that we’re never alone on this journey.

Happy Pride Month 🍄🌈🗽

05/30/2026

Join us in NYC on Friday 6/5 for our next psychedelic author event: “American Trickster: The Hidden Lives of Carlos Castaneda” with author Ru Marshall in conversation with John Oakes.

“Twenty years in the making, American Trickster: The Hidden Lives of Carlos Castaneda unravels the story of the secretive faux-anthropologist who pulled off one of the greatest literary hoaxes in modern history. Both an investigation of the techniques employed by charismatic narcissists and a study of the cult dynamics that still shape American life, American Trickster defies conventional biography.”

Last Friday’s amazing talk with Benjamin De Loenen of ICEERS and Claude Guislain of Instituto Nixiwaka on the upcoming “World Ayahuasca Forurm”. 🐍🐆🌿

We’re very much a “Be Here Now” “In-Person-Moments” and “Direct Experience” focused organization. We’re also a very small team… thus most of our talks and panels go unrecorded.

But sometimes there’s a discussion SO powerful and important that I kick myself afterwards that it wasn’t filmed.

Last Friday’s talk was one such event. The World Ayahuasca Forum is going to be a truly extrodinary endeavor, facilitating cross-cultural dialogue and allyship in a way I’ve never seen anyone attempt before. Feeling so inspired and grateful to Claude and Benjamin for sharing their work with our NYC community. 🙏

We hope to be able to attend ourselves and witness a historical moment. Visit their website for more info and see you in Spain perhaps?

Sometimes we do things a little “up the nose” *cough* SORRY “ON the nose” ON. 😳

Case in point: a public party we threw two years ago titled “Thank You MDMA”, complete with:

1. A Burlesque Dance About Psychedelic Prohibition
2. A paper mache Molly-cule sculpture in a giant metal heart on a base where we painted the word “thank you” in approx. 42 languages
3. An LED model of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine behind the DJ booth (thanks Joe!)
4. A chemistry themed centerpiece for our snack table, where we offered cartoonishly giant yellow/white rock candy crystals
5. A build your own molecule station led by LT our dear psychedelic research friend at Columbia
6. Presentations by Allyson & Alex Grey, Charley Wininger & Rachel Nuwer

Speaking of “on-the-nose NYC events about empathogens” tomorrow night is our next “Cali Sober” night at in the LES. And this month’s theme is MDM-May. 2 hours of open, unstructured social time to meet and connect with folks interested in talking about this amazing substance!
