Last Saturday our tenant leader Antonio from 110th St spoke at ’s Rental Rip-Off Hearing about the abuses that him and his neighbors have endured from their landlord. Tenants need the city to better enforce repairs and punish negligent landlords through:

- Higher fines for unmade repairs
- The ability to schedule 311 inspections
- Strict deadlines to make repairs

Tenants deserve basic dignity and safety in our homes!

These East Harlem tenants braved the freezing weather last week because are enduring inhumane conditions—their building frequently has no heat or hot water, and its facade is crumbling. They decided to canvass a neighboring building owned by the same landlord facing the same issues. One of the fastest and most effective ways of building power and winning repairs is to organize with tenants from other buildings your landlord owns 💪🚪❄️

This , stand with NYC’s most vulnerable tenants by helping us reach our end-of-year fundraising goal. Your donation helps us provide critical organizing support to tenants fighting to get repairs and protect their homes. Visit https://givebutter.com/tenantpower or the link in our bio to donate.

Last Thursday, we stood with the coalition at City Hall to oppose Intro. 1107 which would allow more homes to be converted to Airbnbs.

NYC is in the middle of a housing crisis that’s making it impossible for working people to get by. Airbnb is spending millions of dollars to push a bill that would kick thousands of tenants out of their homes and drive up rent even higher for everyone.” —Aura Mejia, Director of Organizing at T&N

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our founder Michael McKee. If you have ever been in any tenant rights movement space, you have almost certainly met Michael. Mike’s 60+ years of leadership, knowledge, and principled struggle in our movement helped transform material conditions for all working class tenants in New York. He fought for rent stabilization and SCRIE in the 70s, lead-free apartments for children, DRIE, citywide rent freezes, 2019’s tenant protection laws, eviction bans during the COVID-19 pandemic, and many more victories.

We are deeply honored to continue fighting for housing justice in his memory. Rest in peace, Michael.
