All-Star speaker symposium at SUNY Maritime College this Sun, Oct 4th at 10 am, will explore the important Revolutionary War Battle of Pell’s Point/Pelham; widely considered to be the most important battle to occur in The Bronx during the American Revolution.

The symposium will feature historians Friederike Baer, Nick Dembowski of the Kingsbridge Historical Society, and Professor Lloyd Ultan, with a Q&A moderated by Steven Payne of Bronx County Historical Society and David Allen, SUNY Maritime Humanities Department

Save the date! - Sun Oct 18th at Orchard Beach. British Tall Ship Lynx will be firing cannons; British soldiers aboard the whale boat, Albatros will land on the beach to confront the Patriot resistance. Reenactors in historic uniforms will do battle. See the KHS link in the comments for details.

Good article from The Riverdale Press on the Kingsbridge BID Revolutionary War 250 banners.

Dozens of new banners in Kingsbridge are spotlighting the neighborhood’s role in the American Revolution, turning light poles into miniature history exhibits for passersby.

The Kingsbridge Business Improvement District and Kingsbridge Historical Society installed 62 banners featuring 14 designs throughout the commercial district, replacing the BID’s familiar navy blue promotional banners. The project coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and marks the first collaboration between the two organizations.
