Another Beautiful day to help a great cause. Rotary District 7230 and many of the clubs in the area represented and raised money for Alzheimer's Research including West Point-Highland Falls Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Larchmont, Rotary Club of Scarsdale and many others. Our club marched in Honor of a member who lost his mother this past year who suffered for years with Alzheimer's disease.

We enjoyed hosting Mitch Weisburgh, author of several books, including Mindshifting, about how to shift from limiting mindsets to empowering ones. Mitch is here with our President Gil Walton.

We were pleased to open our fall dinner meetings with David Zucker, Senior Manager of Community Engagement for the Hudson Valley chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, presenting sobering data on the prevalence of this disease while also pointing to advances in diagnostic tests and treatments to delay its progression. All are encouraged to attend or donate to the Westchester Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, October 4th.

What a nice way to start the Rotary year. Last night we inducted Ruby Zayas-Santos as a new member of our club and also installed Sandy Wolstein as our Vice President. Pictured with our New President Gil Walton.

Last week as all Rotary Clubs do, we had our annual Installation Dinner and PDG Greg Arcaro inducted Gill Walton, our incoming President and the rest of our Board for the new fiscal year. We also awarded Scholarships to Scarlett Hartzman and Micahia Grace Simpkins from New Rochelle High School, who are going on to do great things and we wish them all the best.

Last night we had Angela Thomson Founder of NEAR Prepared, an organization seeking to empower communities to be proactive, prepare, and practice for emergencies before they happen. Be ready, you never know when an emergency will happen.

City Island Oyster Reef representative, Frank Williams, recently spoke to New Rochelle Rotary and several area clubs about the critical importance of preservation of oyster reefs to water quality in Long Island Sound. Volunteers are sought for an Orchard Beach clean-up on May 17th, followed by a clambake. Details at the CIOR website - https://www.cioysterreef.org/ .
