At Words & Music 2024, a group of poets debuted new work inspired by the exhibit "Captive State: Louisiana and the Making of Mass Incarceration" at The Historic New Orleans Collection. Apparently they were not the only ones inspired by the power of "Captive State," because Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities just awarded it Museum Exhibition of the Year! Congratulations to everyone at HNOC for well-deserved recognition of the time and care you devoted to telling this story.

HNOC joins eight other Bright Lights Awards recipients that were recognized for their significant contributions to the understanding of Louisiana’s history and culture in the humanities field.
