At St. Michael Special School, students Evan and Kolijah are doing just that through hands-on experiences in Emeril's Culinary Center.

What starts in a classroom can reach far beyond it. Just ask Chef BB.

Through the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund, Emeril Lagasse Foundation supports Pilot Light, a Chicago-based nonprofit that connects food education with real-world learning and empowers young people to make informed food choices.

Chef BB, a Pilot Light alum, now leads 70 high school students who maintain a community fridge in Chicago, providing more than 110 meals each week. Our investment in the project helps young people turn what they learn in the classroom into healthy food for their communities.

The garden is growing, the kitchen is open, and Tremont students are getting to work. 🌱

Through Emeril’s Culinary Garden & Teaching Kitchen, students are learning by doing, from planting and preparing food to building practical skills they can carry beyond the classroom.

It’s exciting to see these spaces move from opening day to everyday learning. We can’t wait to see what Tremont students cook up next!
