Happy April to ALL! April is Civitan Awareness Month. Civitan International is an association of community service clubs founded in 1917. Our aim is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs with emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. Civitan includes 40,000 members in almost 1000 clubs throughout 42 countries.
The Tryon Club has been in existence since 1982. We are active in the community striving to help the disabled, the needy and the disadvantaged. Our fundraising efforts are numerous and varied and our support of local charities is diverse. Over the years in our community, we have raised thousands of dollars for over 40 local nonprofits, just a few of which are Craven County Special Olympics, Religious Community Services, Bike Box, My Sister’s House, Colonial Capital Humane Society, Merci Clinic, Twin Rivers YMCA and many, many others. Our volunteer efforts sponsor a monthly Bingo at Brook Stone Senior Living in Pollocksville, assist at Special Olympics games and field days, various food drives for RCS and the Salvation Army and a Bingo Social for the developmentally disabled. As well as our famous “No Child Wet Behind” Diaper Drive coming up in August!
We invite community members to attend one of our meetings to find out for themselves what Civitan is all about. The Tryon Civitan Club meets at La Casetta Restaurant on Neuse Blvd. on the 2nd Tuesday, socializing at 12:30pm lunch at 1 pm and the 4th Tuesday at 5:30pm for social time with dinner and meeting starting at 6pm.
Part of the Civitan Creed states, “My eyes search for others to join in the fellowship of Civitan.” We extend an open invitation to all to join us and be part of our wonderful and dynamic club dedicated to helping others. You won’t be disappointed!

Calling all golf enthusiasts! Our 5th Annual Tryon Civitan Charity Golf Tournament is fast approaching. It will be held Saturday, April 25 at the River Bend Country Club. Attached is a flyer as well as a registration form for interested golfers. This is the Tryon Civitan Club's largest & most successful fundraiser each year, so please come out, have fun playing golf & help others less fortunate in our community.
