Paws of War Eastern North Carolina

Paws of War Eastern North Carolina We train Veterans, Active Military, First Responders (Fire, EMS, LEA) with their dog for obedience or as a service dog. The focus is on those with PTSD or TBI.

If they don't have a dog we work with them and local shelters and rescues to find a dog that matches their needs. We are a Non-Profit organization under section 501(c)(3) headquartered on Long Island, NY. We train people and dogs for disabled Veterans and First-Responders. Whenever possible, we use rescued dogs from local shelters. The Veteran and First Responder are never charged for training. Wh

at is the Program and How are we Different:

- We work with the owner’s existing dog or help them find a shelter dog.
- We work with all breeds, however some are better suited as therapy or service dogs than others. We will assist when looking for a dog.
- Most programs use very specific breeds to become service dogs.
- We train the owner to train the dog. This builds an unbreakable bond and trust between the owner and the dog.
- Training is based on positive reinforcement.
- There are multiple levels of training that start with obedience and basic skills to Therapy or Service Dog. Milestones are achieved through American Kennel Club (AKC) and other training certifications.
- The program takes about 18 months to 2 years to complete and requires the owner to put in the time with their dog. You can donate here:

We love pictures of our team’s adventures!

Here is Wayne with his human, Deputy Sauls. They spent the week at a D.A.R.E. Conference in Atlantic Beach. He was a very good boy. 🐕‍🦺🇺🇸❤️

Today, we celebrate the fathers who lead with strength, love without limits, and always put their families first.

A special thank you to the fathers who serve our nation. While many are spending today with their loved ones, you have answered the call to protect and defend others, often sacrificing precious time with your own families. Your courage, dedication, and selflessness do not go unnoticed.

To all fathers, thank you for the guidance, support, and unconditional love you give each day. The lessons you teach, the sacrifices you make, and the example you set leave a lasting impact on the lives of those who look up to you.

From all of us at Paws of War, Happy Father’s Day. 🇺🇸🐾❤️

It was a privilege to participate in the Women Veterans Resource Event and Appreciation Luncheon, hosted by the Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden and NCWorks Craven.

Many great organizations we partner with were present. It was nice to connect with them on this joyous occasion.

Our organization sponsored a table of eight female veterans, accompanied by volunteers.

We are extremely proud of our volunteer, Emily Satterfield, an Active Duty Marine, who served as the guest speaker. She delivered a heartfelt speech about her military family, her experience as a Marine, and paid tribute to the women who have served before her and those who continue to serve.

Today's event was a celebration of their resilience and bravery, recognizing the diverse ways in which these women continue to contribute to our community.

We appreciate the support of our Mayor, who joined us for a group photo, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to our mission.
