Congratulations to the Share the Care Statewide Planning Committee for winning the first GALE D JOHNSON Collaboration Award. Minerva Cornejo (WI Pink Shawls) & Michael Ninham (GLITC) accepted the award on behalf of the committee at the annual Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative Summit held in Middleton, WI.

Stay tuned...Share the Care Cancer Conference will be taking place in Milwaukee at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. It was 2019 when the conference was last held here in Milwaukee. It takes a village to organize a conference so we will look to our friends here in Milwaukee to help with planning, volunteering and attending. As soon as we have a date, we will let you know. Let's make 2027 bigger and better than 2019. The hotel and casino have gone through some major updates, and we look forward to working with their staff and tribal community once again!

On behalf of the Wisconsin Pink Shawl Program, we extend our deepest condolences to all of Anna's family, coworkers, friends, and loved ones. Anna Merrit was a truly wonderful woman whose warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit made a lasting impression on everyone she met.

We had the privilege of meeting Anna during a visit to the Red Cliff Reservation to introduce our Wisconsin Pink Shawl Program. From the moment we arrived, Anna embraced our mission and helped rally the community in support of our work. She played an instrumental role in organizing a luncheon for our visit and generously assisted the women who gathered to design their own pink shawls. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and caring nature helped create a meaningful experience that will never be forgotten.

Anna also had a special gift for sharing the beauty of the world around her. Through her stunning photographs of the Northern Lights, she allowed so many of us to experience and appreciate something we might otherwise never have seen. Those images, like the memories she leaves behind, will continue to inspire us.

Anna's kindness, generosity, and community spirit touched many lives. We are grateful for the time we had with her and for the support she gave to our Pink Shawl initiative, she was Warrior Strong. She will be remembered with great fondness and will be deeply missed.

Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

October is here and it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The good folks at the New Berlin Texas Roadhouse will be helping us raise funds for our Dream the Cure Conversation program. If you are going out with your friends or family, why not try out the Texas Roadhouse for food & beverages. Hang on to this post and show your server that you're dining in to support the WI Inter-tribal Pink Shawl Initiative & you'd be helping us out. After a movie at the Ridge or on a shopping spree at Costco - stop in and get a bite to eat or just meet with friends. Remember if you haven't made your appointment to get screened, do so...do it for the ones you love. Thank you!

Take advantage of Milwaukee's Doors Open this weekend. Go & visit some of Milwaukee's gems, not normally open to the public. S Layton Blvd & Greenfield Ave you'll find the School Sisters of St Francis a German order & founders of Alverno College. Here you will also be able to tour St Joseph's Chapel. It is beautiful & the story of the Catholic order of Sisters is fascinating. Get out, take the kids or a friend & explore these treasures 🦋, it a beautiful day.

Our sisters are excited to welcome visitors to our newly restored St. Joseph Chapel this Saturday, September 26, for the Doors Open Milwaukee open house event. Visit us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to take a self-guided tour of our breathtaking, 109-year-old chapel—a treasure of artisanship, architecture, and spirituality. Our sisters will be on hand to answer questions and point out highlights. All ages are encouraged to visit, and everyone is welcome to take photos!

Our thanks to the West Allis Memorial hospital allowing us to hold the second annual screening event on Saturday. The event was offered a variety of resources and screenings for both men and women. We provided our Dream to Cure conversation education program, this year the majority of them were done in Spanish. Thanks to Claudia our new outreach specialist, and Minerva they educated a wide variety of women coming to our table to participate. The Milwaukee Hmong Consortium for Health did a wonderful job on putting the whole event together, thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who participated.
