☘️ A Big Irish Sunday – March 15! ☘️
This Sunday is shaping up to be an incredible day filled with Irish pride, community spirit, and great traditions! The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick of New Bedford are proud to be connected to two fantastic events happening on the same day.
🏃♂️ ** New Bedford Half Marathon **
For nearly five decades, the New Bedford Half Marathon has been a cherished tradition, bringing thousands of runners and spectators to the city each March. Hosted by the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick of New Bedford in partnership with the City of New Bedford, the race takes place this Sunday, March 15.
👀 **Want to watch the race?**
Spectators are encouraged to line the course and cheer on the runners as they make their way through the city. It’s one of New Bedford’s most exciting annual events!
🚗 **Important Race Day Reminders**
• **No Parking along the race route** – Vehicles will be towed beginning at **6:00 AM** to keep the course safe and clear.
• **Road closures** will be in effect approximately **10:00 AM – 2:00 PM**, especially affecting the South End and peninsula.
• **Free parking** will be available at the **Elm Street Garage** and **Zeiterion Garage**.
• Residents who need to travel are encouraged to leave before **10:00 AM**.
🍀 **Head to Boston to See the Best Irish Parade Around**
🎉 South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade – 11:30 AM Start
The parade begins at **Andrew Station** and marches through South Boston along this route:
Andrew Square → Dorchester Street → Telegraph Street → around Thomas Park → G Street → 6th Street → K Street → 4th Street → P Street → East Broadway → West Broadway → ending on **A Street**.
This makes it possible to **enjoy the New Bedford Half Marathon in the morning and still make your way to South Boston for one of the country’s most famous St. Patrick’s Day parades!**
