A beautiful evening of community, culture, and connection!

The SouthCoast Community Foundation was honored to receive the 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 at Discovery Language Academy’s 26th Annual Gala on Saturday night at the Country Club of New Bedford.

💬Through its no-cost English literacy program, DLA helps students build confidence, pursue educational and career opportunities, and connect with their new communities. Those opportunities have a ripple effect, supporting families and strengthening the communities they call home.

🙌Its Portuguese language classes and Portuguese citizenship preparation also help learners connect or reconnect with their heritage, keeping the language and traditions that are part of the SouthCoast’s identity alive across generations.

Accepting the award, SCCF President and CEO Dr. Melanie S. Edwards-Tavares reflected on DLA’s history of serving the community since the 1920s.

On Thursday, October 15, Women's Fund SouthCoast will bring leaders and community members together at the Zeiterion for 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻, 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆, an evening exploring reproductive freedom, immigrant justice, and whose voices are heard.
