Dennison Memorial Community Center We care about kids. We care about community. Dennison is one of the oldest nonprofit organizations serving the New Bedford area. Inc. at (508) 999-9930.

Founded in 1868 by the Ladies’ City Mission Society. Our neighborhood drop-in center is open to any child between the ages of 6 and 16. Parents or guardians must fill out an application form and submit that at the front reception desk. For that, children and teens, aged 6-16. are entitled to take part in all of the activities and programs of the drop-in program. Our Latchkey Program began originally in 1986 and funding is granted through the State of Massachusetts Voucher Management Program locally directed by P.A.C.E. To inquire about eligibility for school age day care slots in our program, you may contact P.A.C.E. Referrals are made from P.A.C.E. to Dennison and then the parent should contact, Joseph Neves, Program Director, at our center, (508) 996-2691. This is a licensed school age day care program through the State of Massachusetts, Office of Early Education and Child Care. The license is renewable every two years and there are stringent requirements for renewal.

🎨✨ It was an ARTS AND CRAFTS DAY here at DENNISON! ✂️🖍️

🎨 What an amazing day of color, creativity, and community! Our space was filled with smiling faces, busy little hands, bright paint, crayons, construction paper, and so much imagination.
From painting and cutting to gluing and creating, our participants showed off their artistic talents and made memories we’ll cherish. 💛

James “Jim” Mathes is retiring after an extraordinary 42-year career serving South Coast nonprofit agencies and organizations, including 12 years as CEO of Dennison Memorial Community Center. His dedication, leadership, and commitment have touched hundreds of lives.

Retirement Celebration

Friends, family, colleagues, and community partners are invited to join us in honoring Jim at a special retirement reception.

Date: Tuesday, October 27
Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Location: Wamsutta Club, New Bedford, Massachusetts

This celebration will provide an opportunity to thank Jim for his years of exemplary service and recognize the lasting impact he has made throughout the community.
