The New Bedford YMCA recently hosted the New Bedford Connect event bringing together dozens of community partners and resources to assist our unhoused neighbors. We heard from so many attendees about the positive impact that event had on their lives. Including Reginald, who was able to obtain an ID during the event. Stories like this are a great reminder that when a community stands together, we grow together.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Giving Tuesday - December 1st! Your donation that day will help us continue our work providing safe spaces for all to grow, learn, and thrive.

Join us tomorrow, October 24, from 3-4:30pm for our annual Trunk-Or-Treat event, with special guest - former New England Patriot - Trey Flowers! The Ashley Faye Foundation will be on site with Nex Playground’s NFL Football game, where attendees can compete with Trey.

What to expect:

- Free and open to the public
- Costumes encouraged
- Trunk-or-Treating
- A chance to compete against Trey at Nex Playground’s NFL Football
- Photo and autograph opportunities with Trey
- See Trey’s Superbowl Rings

Wrapped treats are always needed for the Trunk-or-Treating and can be donated at the Welcome Center. We are also collecting non-perishable items for Thanksgiving: Mac & Cheese, Stuffing, Soup, Canned Veggies & Fruit, Cranberry Sauce, Gravy for Thanksgiving. These items also can be donated at the Welcome Center.

Yesterday the New Bedford YMCA and Rise Up For Homes collaborated to host the 10th annual New Bedford Connect event, bringing critical services directly to individuals and families experiencing or on the verge of homelessness in our community.

Free haircuts. Flu vaccines. RMV services. Over 40 local vendors offering resources and support. And the numbers speak for themselves! Barbers and hair stylists were on site providing more than 50 hair cuts; 60 individuals were shuttled to get their IDs during the event; and a total of 305 people were served throughout the day.

This is what it looks like when a community shows up for one another. We are honored to once again be a partner in bringing this powerful community event to New Bedford 🤍

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week at Cheers for a Cause in support of our Annual Campaign! It was an incredible night filled with friends, community, great food and drinks, and so much fun. Nights like these are a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night's Cultura Y Conversación at the Fall River Ymca Southcoast.

Attendees heard from three incredible regional leaders - Maria A. Rosario, Emmanuel Echevarria, MBA, and Jennifer Velarde - who shared stories of their experiences in the Hispanic/Latino community on the South Coast and answered questions from attendees.

Special thanks to Sanchez Restaurant in New Bedford for an exceptional spread of food! Our guests left informed and well fed.
