It’s been a very busy Spring stocking up the Ecumenical Food Bank of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls, with several important donation events. And we certainly appreciate all the support we have received from our community.
To close out our trio of events, this Saturday May 9th is the annual National Association of Letter Carriers food collection. This one day event on the 2nd Saturday in May is the largest single event of its type in the nation.
Reminder cards are usually put in with your mail, but if you don’t see one, this is how it works. Simply place unopened & current dated non perishable food items in a plastic bag and hang it on or place it near your mailbox. This will be picked up when your mail is delivered and brought to our food bank on Spring Street. It’s that easy!
Once again, we deeply appreciate any food donations. Thank you.

The Feeding Our Families food drive this past Saturday April 25th at the Mountview Plaza Stop & Shop was a HUGE success for the Ecumenical Food Bank of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls.
Despite cloudy and cool weather with a few raindrops thrown in, a lot of very generous shoppers turned in 3,000 pounds of food items to our hard working volunteers. There was also a considerable amount of cash donations as well. All in all, this was a tremendous boost to our Spring Street operation, and we had one of the most successful collection days in the region. Thank you all for helping to keep the flow of food going out to those that need it in our community. The picture shows many of the boxes (63 in total) stacked up.

First thing, we would like to thank the individuals that donated to our cause during the recently completed Give Local program.
Next up is a one day food drive on Saturday April 25th. The Naugatuck Food Bank is participating in the Feeding Our Families one day event. There are 180 Stop & Shop stores participating in the NY-NJ-CT region, so stop by at the Naugatuck location in Mountview Plaza on Rubber Avenue and meet the volunteers of the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank and make a donation to help keep our shelves stocked.

There will be three upcoming opportunities to donate to your local Naugatuck and Beacon Falls Ecumenical Food Bank.
1. April 21-22 it’s the annual Give Local campaign, a 36 hour on line donation event managed by the Connecticut Community Foundation.
2. Saturday April 25 is Feeding America day, organized by NBC, Connecticut Foodshare and Stop & Shop. Drop by Mountview Plaza and meet the volunteers of our food bank and help us keep our pantries filled with the necessary items that we hand out.
3. The USPS letter carriers conduct the nation’s largest single day food drive on Saturday May 9th. All you have to do is put non perishable items out to be picked up.
These three events will provide our citizens opportunities to help the food bank to continue to provide their much needed services. More detailed information will be forthcoming for each event.
