Today we celebrate National Dog Day! 🐾❤️
To us, though, that’s just about every day because we celebrate our dogs daily. But it does give us an extra special reason to show off the amazing dogs who are currently by our sides and, of course, take a moment to remember the ones who came before them. 🐶
Our dogs bring so much joy, laughter, love, and unconditional companionship into our lives. The ones we have with us today are here to be spoiled, celebrated, and reminded just how very loved they are. They may not understand that today is “their day,” but they certainly know when they’re getting an extra treat, a longer walk, or a few more minutes of cuddles.
And for the dogs who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, their paw prints never truly leave our hearts. Time may pass, but the memories, the love, and the impact they had on our lives remain. 🌈🐾
So today, celebrate the dogs who are here with you. Give them those extra 10 minutes on their walkie. Extend that hug just a little longer. Give them the extra treat, the belly rub, or simply sit beside them a little longer.
And while you’re loving on the ones beside you, take a moment to remember the ones who helped make you the pet parent you are today.
Because today is their day… but honestly, every day is. ❤️

Valley Paw Partners’ First Annual Poker Run event is coming up quickly, and we’re looking for local vendors to showcase their products and services.

We’re now accepting applications to join our event as a vendor. Click the link below to apply! Keep in mind, we have limited space available, so submitting an application does not guarantee a spot. If approved, someone from our team will reach out to you to complete the registration process.

Details:
- Sunday, September 13th at Señor Pancho’s of Prospect
Set-up begins at 12:30pm, event guests arrive at 2:00pm
-Vendors are required to stay until 6pm, but are welcome to stay until the restaurant closes.
-Registration fee is $40 & one donated raffle prize.

Squiggy is healing at home, and we're so grateful to share that the veterinarians were able to save his leg! ❤️According to his owner, no further donations are needed at this time. Thank you to everyone who shared his story, donated, or offered support. Your kindness truly made a difference.

Early this morning in Seymour, a dog owner suffered a fatal medical emergency while walking their dog. The dog remained leashed and stayed near its owner until the owner was later discovered by a passerby. While the passerby was calling emergency services, the now-unattended dog reportedly attacked the passerby’s small dog, Squiggy, causing severe, traumatic injuries.
The members of VPP have contributed a collective $250 toward Squiggy’s care, and we hope our amazing supporters will consider making a donation as well. Every gift, no matter the size, will help provide the emergency medical care he needs and make a meaningful difference for Squiggy and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
Squiggy, who was adopted from Naugatuck Animal Control back in November 2025, is currently receiving emergency care and is expected to undergo surgery to amputate one of his legs. If you’re able to help, the veterinary hospital performing his procedure is accepting donations by phone or in person to help cover his medical expenses.
To donate, simply call or visit the hospital and let the staff know your donation is for Squiggy.
