Honestly… this could’ve been a lot worse. 😂

A trash truck made a very loud guest appearance during our podcast recording, and instead of stopping, we just rolled with it. As a wise person once said.
”It’s trash can, not trash can’t”

When I saw this picture, I immediately felt it in my body. My fists clenched, my chest tightened, and my stomach dropped. This image captures something so many Stage Wives experience when their spouses are home. Work still needs to get done. Kids still need to be played with. Sanity still needs to be found. And somehow, just like Waldo, it always feels a little elusive.

I just want to say this to every Stage Wife: wow. You’re doing it. You are making it through the day. You are working on self-improvement. You are taking care of the house, the kids, and everyone around you, all while trying to take care of yourself too.

If you’re part of this community, then you know what it means to be tenacious. To be strong. To take pride in what your husband does, while also being really stinking proud of what you do.

These are the unseen moments so many of us experience, but if you’re part of this community, I hope you know you’re not alone anymore. Congratulations. You found your village. You found your crew. And hopefully moments like these don’t feel quite so lonely now.

On this week’s episode of Offstage & On Duty, we sit down with our in-house therapist and fellow Stage Wife, Sam Beretta, to talk through the real-life questions you asked inside our private Stage Wives Facebook group.

From navigating family opinions about life on the road, to staying connected through distance, parenting during inconsistent tour schedules, career frustrations, wedding planning, routines, communication, and learning how to readapt when your spouse comes home… we covered it all.

One thing we’ve learned over the years is this: if one Stage Wife is struggling with something, chances are a whole lot of us are quietly carrying the same questions too. You are never as alone as you think you are.

We’re so grateful for Sam’s wisdom, practical tools, and honest perspective in this conversation. ❤️

So if you watched (still crazy to say out loud 😭) or if you’ve listened to our podcast Offstage & On Duty, then you know that we wrote a children’s book… actually, a whole series called Touring Tales.   The first book, The Invisible Backpack, will officially be released on July 28, and we truly cannot believe how quickly this has all come together or how much love this book has already received. 🥹💛  

While we (Rhyan & Rachel) wrote the book, we intentionally chose to list the author as Stage Wives because this has never just been about us. This is about the touring families who deserve to feel seen, supported, and understood. It’s about the men who work tirelessly on the road to support their families. It’s about the women holding down the fort at home. And it’s especially about the kids navigating such a unique and often confusing lifestyle.  

There really haven’t been many resources for children in this industry, so we decided to create them ourselves.  

We wrote The Invisible Backpack “for visible reconnection” — as a tool to help create smoother transitions from road life to home life, while also giving kids something tangible to hold onto and practical ways to stay connected to Dad while he’s away.  

A huge thank you to our incredible illustrator, , for bringing this story to life so beautifully. And thank you to our publishers, and , for believing in this vision. Having publishers who have personally lived this lifestyle, understand why these books matter, and said, “Yes, we want to partner with you,” has been such a gift.   Stage Wives, touring spouses, extended road crew families, and our sweet stage kids… this book is for you.

And to the families they leave behind every time — you're part of this too. Every run. Every city. Every late-night load-out. Today we celebrate all of it!

Okay everyone … some of you had some really great guesses on our story a few days ago, and we’re so excited to finally share the secret…

In relationships, there are so many unspoken expectations when it comes to our partners, even if we don’t always want to admit it. Thoughts like, “he should take out the trash,” “he should help with the dishes if I cook dinner,” “he should help with bedtime,” or “he should be here for every monumental life moment” quietly shape the way we experience love, partnership, and sacrifice.

Last week on Offstage & On Duty, Kristy shared the word that she and Danny have used to filter every thought and decision over 26 years of marriage: honor.

Is this honoring our family?

It’s a simple question, but not always a simple answer. Still, having that lens changes everything. It shifts the conversation away from resentment and toward intentionality. Away from keeping score and toward protecting what matters most.

After 26 years of navigating marriage, family, and life on the road together, Kristy offered so much wisdom and perspective in this conversation, and we’re so grateful she shared it with us.
