MAKING WAVES FOR CHANGE:
Blue Future Aquatic Projects Launch Two-Weekend Swimathon
to Combat Drowning Crisis Among Black and Brown Youth
Youth swimmers from Florida ,California Tennessee and Kentucky take action on April 25th and May 2nd to raise funds and awareness around a preventable public health crisis
The Blue Future Aquatic Projects (BFAP) is proud to announce a landmark two-weekend Swimathon event taking place on Saturday, April 25th , 2026 and Saturday, May 2nd , 2026. Spanning AquaticProjects from Tennessee to California , this powerful, community-driven event is designed to raise both funds and urgent awareness around one of the most overlooked public health crises facing communities of color today.
STARTLING FACT: Drowning is among the top 10 causes of premature death for Black and Brown youth — a tragedy that is largely preventable.
Each participating Aquatic Project will host its own local Swimathon, where youth swimmers will take to the water to demonstrate the power of their skills while raising critical funds for their Aquatic Project's future goals. This is not just an athletic event — it is a movement. A declaration that access to swim education saves lives, and that Black and Brown youth deserve to thrive in the water.
"This swimathon is about more than fundraising — it is about rewriting a narrative," said a spokesperson for Tennessee Aquatic Project. "Every lap swum is a statement that this statistic ends with us. Our youth are not a statistic. They are swimmers, leaders, and changemakers."
The Blue Future Swimathon invites the community — parents, donors, sponsors, and media — to witness and support this powerful display of youth resilience. Your contribution directly fuels swim programs that are saving lives and building the next generation of aquatic leaders.
