Greetings,

To participate in either the YDWP Archaeology program or the Collective Approach to Restoring Our Eco/Systems (CARES) program, young divers must log 30 dives and earn a buoyancy certification—no small feat for a young diver.

YDWP helps them achieve these goals by hosting periodic empowerment camps. During these camps, we bring in instructors to guide them into the next phase of their diving careers so they can qualify for the Archaeology or CARES programs.

Please support these young divers by making a donation. You can donate by tapping the link below:

Greetings:DWP archaeology advocate , Nkosikhona Mthembu , was a moderator at the Durban Film Festival representing NEWF - Nature Environment & Wildlife Filmmakers

Beyond the Wild: Getting the Shot

Presented in Partnership with the Nature, Environment and Wildlife Filmmakers(NEWF).

This discussion brings together NEWF Fellows behind films exploring indigenous foodways, land restitution and conservation, human-elephant coexistence, and the legacy of Libreville’s largest dump.

Elshadaye Temesgen explains that the trailer was created to experiment with how her project could look visually, beyond her own imagination. Through it, she aims to showcase Ethiopia from a different perspective, highlighting its beauty, hidden gems, diverse landscapes and rare wildlife. The project also emphasises the importance of viewing nature through the perspective of local communities, recognising that people are an integral part of the ecosystems they inhabit, sustain and protect.
