Tennessee Aquatic Project

Tennessee Aquatic Project Our vision was to create a youth based organization that would provide at-risk and inner city youth in particular, a complete approach to personal development.

Since 1995, the Tennessee Aquatic Project and Development Group, Inc (TAP), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has sought to maximize the growth potential of African-American youth by exposing them to opportunities to engage in activities that build character, leadership, critical thinking skills, survival techniques, and community awareness. Guided by an all-volunteer staff, TAP uses aquatic tr

aining (swimming, lifeguarding, and scuba diving) as the vehicle to master new skills, build confidence, and pursue non-traditional careers. Serving youth between the ages of 8 and 18, TAP youth are swimmers, water safety instructors, lifeguard instructors, snorkelers, and scuba divers (open water divers, rescue divers, and master divers). Several alumni have pursued careers in areas first discovered as TAP participants—marine biology, environmental science, and licensed professional divers. It is the goal of TAP to expose and impact the lives of youth so that they can dare to dream of possibilities!

Greetings: These past nine days have marked one of the greatest milestones in TAP history. We are proud to celebrate ten ,TAP youth who have graduated from our local high schools. Among them, seven are headed to college, one is entering trade school, and one is joining the armed services. Additionally, one of our TAP alumni has graduated from medical school and one from electrical college.

I am truly proud of each of these graduates and wish them great success in the next phase of their journey.

Greetings:What an incredible week for TAP with 10 (TEN) TAP youth graduating from high school . Even though TAP has a 100% High School graduation rate , we have never had 10 graduate at one time .
Congratulations to all of the graduates as they persue the next chapter of their lives. It all started with Maliyah Bedford graduation from Hunters Lane High School , Justin Burrus graduating from Independence High School ,and everyone else in between.
