Bromeliads are homes unto themselves. 🌿💙 🌿✨

Meet the bromeliad! This diverse plant family includes over 3,500 species—from the pineapples on your plate to the air plants clinging to tree branches throughout the tropics, including the Garden.

Many bromeliads feature spiraling leaves that form a central "tank," holding water and creating miniature ecosystems for insects, frogs, and even crabs. These tropical wonders are more than just beautiful—they're vital to the food web and provide critical habitat for countless species. 🐸💧

Explore the hidden wonder of the Garden’s seed bank through art. 🌱

Artist Lauren Shapiro is drawing inspiration from it for What is Gathered Remains, an exhibition of glass sculptures opening January 23, 2027. And before it opens, you can help create a part of the exhibition! 🪟

Join Lauren for a community workshop November 14 or 15 to create a design inspired by plants in the Garden’s seed bank. She’ll transform your design into a glass tile for the exhibition.

🤔 What color might you imagine if you heard the joyous, boot-stomping melody of composer Aaron Copland’s Hoe-Down? Or the sword-rattling energy of Aram Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance? The eerie mystique of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre?

🎼 The Naples Philharmonic invited Naples Botanical Garden to jointly create a special “Trip to the Phil” experience for Collier County Public School District fifth and seventh graders. Garden educators, including Megan Sinclair (pictured here), and Conductor Manuel López-Gómez invited their young audience to “see” yellow, orange, purple, and other colors as they listened to the orchestra’s selections.

🎨Drawing from last season’s ChromaFlora exhibition, educators showed students vibrant photos and offered fun facts about the Garden’s collection. Did you know: Fewer than 1 in 10 plants in nature are blue? That many night-blooming plants are white to attract nocturnal pollinators? That carrots, sweet potatoes, and oranges get their color from beta carotene, an important antioxidant and vitamin source?

📝There will be a quiz, kids. (Just kidding.) 😮‍💨

The Garden is grateful to the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra for this collaboration.

🐶 Sit, stay … stroll! Treat your pup to a paws-itively delightful morning at Paws for Peace in the Garden on October 4, 8 –11am. 🐾

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, community partners The Shelter Naples and Patty Baker Humane Society Naples will be on-site to share information about their programs.
