Horsewoman, Artist, Costume Designer, Crone.
When you’re an old woman, you can wear
whatever you want.
When you’re an old horsewoman, you can wear
whatever the HELL you want. AND drink
bourbon in the morning.
Never grew out of these two things:
Horses. Theater.
I was a costume designer living in a
big city. This nice man said he would
buy me a horse if I moved to this
small city and married him. 30 years
and two boys later, no horse.
So I said let’s buy a farm and I’ll buy
my own damn horse. So we did and
I did. She was beautiful and I wanted
to be beautiful for her. But by that
time, I was old and needed the help
of a corset and a crazy, pretty outfit.
Corsets aren’t uncomfortable at all if
they’re custom made. Sidesaddle
isn’t scary when bourbon exists.

Master artist Stacie Krupa is known for her vibrant mixed-media paintings and decades-long career as a professional artist, educator, and gallery owner. Her fearless use of color and texture makes her a perfect fit for this year’s EMBELLISHED runway.

Maria Plata is a multimedia artist and storyteller with Roots of Immokalee and Sewcial Justice, currently using reclaimed textiles, hand carved block print, and embroidery to reflect stories of those within her community of Immokalee. Her collection draws upon the Chicano art movement of the 80’s and merges the idea of fashion from the past being part of our story today. culture.

She pairs traditional textiles and significant cultural elements from the Haitian, Mexican, and Guatemalan community to proclaim messages of resiliency then and now. From the fashion that dominated the 80’s culture to the social justice issues of the time, her pieces are a homage with the vibrant colors of the 80’s and create a visual story for the audience.

FASHION WITH PURPOSE ✨
EMBELLISHED × THE SHELTER OPTIONS SHOPPE

This year, select EMBELLISHED designers were invited to reimagine clothing and fabrics donated by The Shelter Options Shoppe. Transforming pre-loved pieces into one-of-a-kind runway looks.

A celebration of creativity, sustainability and community, this special collaboration gives these pieces a new story while shining a light on the incredible work of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children.

Reimagined. Reinvented. EMBELLISHED.

DESIGNER- Dollye Dorris

MAKE DO AND MEND
Born in Nashville and raised in Detroit, I’ve always done that.
My first shop in Ann Arbor was “Hanky Panky “, where I fashioned clothing and lingerie from vintage fabrics, lace and hankies.
I opened “Hello, Dollye “ on Marco Island where I collected and refurbished vintage goods.

MODEL- Ivy Dorris

Following in a family tradition of making, mending, and creating, Ivy joined her grandmother Dollye to help bring this look to life. Now she’ll take it from the sewing room to the runway, modeling the piece she helped create.

Three generations, one creative thread. 🧵✨

DESIGNER- Shama Boutique

Shama Boutique was born from a passion for fashion and culture—a creative journey rooted deeply in heritage and inspired by God’s creativity. At Shama Boutique, fashion is more than clothing; it is a way to preserve tradition and connect cultures, blending the richness of Indian craftsmanship with modern Western silhouettes.
In this exclusive wearable art collection created for the Bayshore Arts District, we push the boundaries of fashion and imagination with a range of materials and concepts—from silk to steel, trash to pseudo 3D technology, traditional to futuristic elements. The collection features whimsical yet feminine designs that make you feel unique, beautiful, and connected to something meaningful.

Created by the young artists of our East Naples Summer Art Camp, their one-of-a-kind look is a true collaborative creation. Each camper added their own artistic touch, coming together to transform individual ideas into one unforgettable piece for the EMBELLISHED runway. 🎨✨
