Before the costumes go on and the candy buckets come out, take a few minutes to create a trick-or-treat safety plan with your children.

Simple conversations about where to meet, who to stay with, when to check in, and what to do if plans change can help children feel more confident and prepared while they’re out celebrating.

This Halloween, make safety part of the tradition. 🧡

Human trafficking doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.
There may be no obvious cry for help. Sometimes, the signs are subtle changes in a child’s behavior, relationships, routines, or sense of safety.

That’s why awareness matters.‼️
This October, Path2Freedom is helping our community learn to recognize the warning signs that can easily be overlooked. Knowing what to look for can help us ask better questions, pay closer attention, and create safer spaces for children to speak up.

Take a moment to read the signs shared in this post, save them, and share them with someone you know.

Community Partner Spotlight: Animal & Kids Rescue, LLC 🐴

At Path2Freedom, healing can take many forms. Since our Safe House Program began in 2020, equine services have played an important role in helping survivors rebuild trust, confidence, connection, and a sense of responsibility.

💛In 2025, we were grateful to expand these services through our partnership with Animal & Kids Rescue, LLC, introducing the EAGALA model of equine-assisted psychotherapy. During these structured, ground-based sessions, a licensed mental health professional and equine specialist work alongside survivors as they safely explore emotions, experiences, and relationship patterns in real time.
For some survivors, working with horses can open a door that traditional talk therapy may not.

🧲Equine therapy becomes more than an activity. It becomes a bridge to trust, insight, and healing.

We are incredibly grateful to Animal & Kids Rescue, LLC for partnering with us to create meaningful opportunities for healing and growth for the children we serve. 🐴💛

Today, we remember the lives that were lost, the families forever changed, and the brave men and women who responded with courage and selflessness.

This September, we’re sharing simple ways parents, caregivers, educators, and trusted adults can help children navigate challenging seasons while building connection, confidence, and resilience.
