Tomorrow is Make a Difference Day, and at Martin Avenue there's no shortage of ways to make one.

Our volunteers help with Bistro mornings, lead activities, play cards, share a skill, help with holiday decorating, or simply sit and talk.

One hour can be the highlight of a resident's week. Looking for a meaningful way to give back this fall? Individuals, families, scout troops, church groups, and corporate teams are all welcome.

Thank you to the Alfred Bersted Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee! 💙

We’re grateful to share that Martin Avenue Apartments has been awarded a grant to support our Social Services Coordinator position.

For our 200+ residents, this role is often the bridge between a question and an answer. It means having someone down the hall who can help sort through Medicare options, connect residents with benefits and community resources, make sense of paperwork, and simply check in when life gets complicated.

The timing couldn’t be better. Medicare Open Enrollment started last week, and support like this helps residents make confident, informed choices about their health and their future.

Independence is easier when you don’t have to figure everything out alone. Thank you to the Alfred Bersted Foundation for believing in our residents and investing in the people who serve them.

Medicare Open Enrollment starts today and runs through December 7.

Plans change every year, and so do prescriptions, doctors, and costs. Reviewing your coverage now can save a lot of money and frustration in the new year.

RESIDENTS: See our Social Services Coordinator to help you review your options! Stop by the office with questions.

FAMILIES: this is a great month to sit down together, bring the current plan card and medication list, and make sure your loved one's coverage still fits.

October is also Health Literacy Month, and understanding your own health coverage is a big part of that.

It's Bistro Friday, and it's World Smile Day. At Martin Avenue, those two things have always gone together. ☕

It's Fire Prevention Week, and safety is something we practice here all year, not just this week.

Older adults face a higher risk in a home fire, which is why prevention is part of daily life at Martin Avenue:
▶️ Smoke detectors tested and maintained on schedule.
▶️ Clear hallways and well-marked exits on every floor.
▶️ Regular fire drills so everyone knows the plan.
▶️ Staff trained to help residents who need extra time or assistance.

A few quick reminders for families visiting this month: check that your loved one's space heaters are approved and kept clear, cords aren't running under rugs, and stovetops aren't used for storage. Small habits prevent big emergencies.
