“Why I Walk”

Our son, Owen Matthew Ear was born still at 38 weeks, 5 days. One day before my scheduled delivery.
It is difficult to describe the pain, shock and the trauma we endured.
At the very beginning, the Share program was there for us. Sue Villa came to our room armed with comfort kits, mementos, books about baby loss and Dove chocolates (my favorite to this day).
SHARE is the reason we have precious photos with Oliver and Owen. Through Share meetings, we were able to connect with other loss families and found a community of wonderful people who validated our grief.
We walk in support of Share and its continued mission to be there for families experiencing the unthinkable.
We walk to remember Owen. To gather with this community, family and friends, honoring all babies gone too soon.

We walk for love.

“Why I Walk”

Happy Walk Wednesday! My name is Christina and my husband Matt and I have four beautiful girls; three here on earth and one in heaven. We have been part of the SHARE community since the loss of our daughter, Rose Christine in December of 2020. SHARE immediately became an amazing resource for all of our questions as we navigated those early days after our loss, a sounding board and support system for our grief, and since then has become a second family. Knowing we were never alone with our thoughts or desire to have the clock rewound, and that it was finally okay to allow both grief AND joy to co-exist was so imperative. The SHARE community has given us the opportunity to parent our little girl, Rose on earth throughout the years and the Sharing HOPE community gave us the space to courageously grow our family while always holding Rose close to our hearts.

We participate in the Walk to Remember each year to honor our Rose Christine and the life with her that exists only in our imagination. We walk to provide an outlet for Rose’s sisters, Emily, Clara, and Grace, to connect with their sister, participate in activities, and relate with other loss families and siblings. We walk to have Rose’s name read aloud and for her to always be remembered as a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend. We walk to continue to share Rose’s story and our grief journey with a community who truly understands the magnitude of our loss and also desires to keep their baby’s names alive. We are looking forward to participating in the Walk to Remember again this year and seeing the SHARE community come together to support one another while sharing a profound love for all of our little ones gone too soon.
