Munster Lions Club

Munster Lions Club We Care. We Serve. We Accomplish. Where There's A Need There's A Lion Currently the Munster Lions have committed to raising funds for 27 different worthy projects.

The Munster Lions Club is a part of Lions, International, the largest service club in the world. The Munster, Indiana, Lions Club has over 90 members, all interested in helping people - internationally, country wide, state wide and especially in the Munster community. To raise these funds the Munster Lions put on two major community events each year, plus the sales of Lions Mints. The Two major e

vents are the early March Pancake Breakfast and the August Steak and Chicken Fry. Attendance for these events runs from 1000 to over 2000 people served. Besides the fund raising the Munster Lions co-sponsor the Munster 4th of July Parade, sponsor Boy Scout Troop 533, conduct eye-sight and hearing screenings, collect eye-glasses and hearing aids for recycling and old keys to be sold and melted down for Indiana Lions cancer research. The Munster Lions, both men and women, put in some hard hours in accomplishing the goals of the club, but the good fellowship and mutual satisfaction generated in projects accomplished make it well worth while. The general meeting schedule is: Dinner meeting - first and third Wednesdays of each month, September through June. The social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is at 7:00 p.m. The usual meeting place is the Munster Social Center. If you wish to join us as a guest, contact George Shinkan - 219-718-4481

Yesterday evening, the Munster Lions Club gathered for its year-end Installation Dinner at Briar Ridge Country Club.

The evening honored Lions of the past, recognized Lions of the present, and welcomed Lions of the future.

Throughout the night, we celebrated the official swearing-in of members who joined us this past year, installed new board members, and presented two distinguished awards, all while enjoying great food and even better conversation.

Outgoing President Mark Plewniak thanked the membership for their hard work and reflected on the many accomplishments of the club over the past year. Incoming President Nanci Cieslak then shared her appreciation for our dedicated members and outlined her vision for the year ahead.

There is still time to join us for the upcoming 4th of July Parade festivities and other community service projects throughout the year.

Ever wonder what it means to be a Lion? The friendships, service projects, scholarships, fundraisers, and community impact are just part of the story.

The Munster Police Department thanks the Munster Lions Club for their recent, generous $2,500 donation towards several of our police department's programs and events including our K-9 Unit, National Night Out Celebration, and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Laughs, leadership, and commitment to community were the focus of this week’s meeting.

Wednesday night the Munster Lions Club welcomed MHS Principal Mr. Nolan and presented him with a $500 donation. These funds were raised through a Lions Club fundraiser held at Barnes & Noble last fall.

We are proud to continue investing in the future of our community, not only through donations like this, but also through our ongoing commitment to scholarships, school programs, and other initiatives that support the next generation.
