The Munster Lions Club is a part of Lions, International, the largest service club in the world. The Munster, Indiana, Lions Club has over 90 members, all interested in helping people - internationally, country wide, state wide and especially in the Munster community. To raise these funds the Munster Lions put on two major community events each year, plus the sales of Lions Mints. The Two major events are the early March Pancake Breakfast and the August Steak and Chicken Fry. Attendance for these events runs from 1000 to over 2000 people served. Besides the fund raising the Munster Lions co-sponsor the Munster 4th of July Parade, sponsor Boy Scout Troop 533, conduct eye-sight and hearing screenings, collect eye-glasses and hearing aids for recycling and old keys to be sold and melted down for Indiana Lions cancer research. The Munster Lions, both men and women, put in some hard hours in accomplishing the goals of the club, but the good fellowship and mutual satisfaction generated in projects accomplished make it well worth while. The general meeting schedule is: Dinner meeting - first and third Wednesdays of each month, September through June.
