It has become the trend among some local leaders to dox and/or discredit residents who share their opinions anonymously. This practice is completely un-American as the first amendment and subsequent Supreme Court opinions have upheld that anonymous speech is protected speech, particularly when criticizing their government or elected officials.

The First Amendment of the US Constitution explicitly grants citizens the right to "petition the Government for a redress of grievances". This right, combined with the Free Speech Clause, has been repeatedly interpreted by the Supreme Court to protect the right to anonymous speech and anonymous criticism of the government.

The Constitutional Basis

The Petition Clause: "Congress shall make no law... abridging... the right of the people... to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The Speech Clause: Interpreted alongside the right to petition, courts have consistently held that the First Amendment protects anonymous pamphleteering, online anonymity, and pseudonymous criticism.

Why Anonymity is Protected

The Supreme Court has cited several key reasons for protecting anonymous communication when addressing the government or holding leaders accountable:

Protection from Retaliation: Anonymity shields citizens from official retribution, blacklisting, or harassment by elected officials or powerful political figures.

Fostering Uninhibited Discourse: It encourages citizens to speak truth to power without fear of social, economic, or physical intimidation.

Focus on the Message: Protecting the identity of the speaker ensures that the content of the grievance is evaluated on its merits rather than the speaker's personal background, status, or popularity.

Historical Precedent: The founders were deeply influenced by revolutionary figures who frequently published anti-crown or anti-government tracts anonymously (such as the writers of the Federalist Papers, who used the pseudonyms "Publius," "Cato," and "Brutus").

Support our neighbors who choose to speak and address civil issues constructively. Democrats and RINOs who dox and discredit them are undermining their right to speak. Your support ensures EVERYONE is heard!

Are you a smart voter? 🇺🇸

Most people evaluate candidates by how enthusiastically they campaign. The better test? How seriously they treat the actual job.

Enthusiasm doesn’t always equal effectiveness. Here are the real questions every voter should be asking about the people already in office, before the polls open this fall.

Before you vote, learn to evaluate candidates with clarity and purpose.

Yesterday's congressional hearing on COVID-19 origins was another reminder that the American people were lied to.

From where the virus originated, to how it spread, to how many people were actually infected and died, the public was repeatedly misled by Dr. Fauci and the Biden administration, who spent years attacking dissent and hiding information that contradicted the approved narrative.

Here in Indiana, the Holcomb administration engaged in the same pattern of secrecy and concealment.

Our office's COVID report laid out all the details: overreported deaths, unreliable positivity rates, and flawed data that drove disastrous policy decisions.

These inflated numbers justified heavy-handed measures that did far more harm than good for Hoosiers — particularly our young students who have never recovered from the huge academic declines on ILEARN.

The American people were right to ask questions then — and they deserve the full truth now.

I am proud to endorse my friend Barb Regnitz for Congress in congressional district 1. Barb is running on lowering taxes, ensuring safe communities, protecting Hoosier families, and building and repairing critical infrastructure. We need someone with local government experience to hold Washington accountable.
