Another quiet icon at Sikhs Mox Lamonti events, Mike is ever present, ready to serve wherever he is needed!
Let’s congratulate another well deserving volunteer. Are you going to attend the Council Court of Honor? There is still time to register to celebrate with them and their families in person this Sunday afternoon!
Congratulations to Mike Lookwood for being a 2026 Silver Beaver recipient.
Join Mike in celebrating this achievement at the Council Court of Honor on May 17th. https://scoutingevent.com/606-110361
Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Mike grew up hiking, camping, boating, fishing, and hunting. Mike served in the Navy for three-decades serving on many ships and participating in difficult sea operations. His careers saw him visit 26 countries before serving as Commanding Officer of the Naval ROTC Unit at University of Washington. In his nearly four years at UW, Mike trained and developed more than 200 exceptional young people.
His son began his Scouting journey in 2011 in the Far East Council, moving to Pike's Peak Council, San Diego-Imperial Council, and then to the Mount Baker Council. At each stop, the family has participated as adult leaders where possible.
Since retiring from active duty, Mike has served as Troop Committee Member, Assistant Scoutmaster, and is currently Scoutmaster for Troop 122 in Mill Creek. At the District level, Mike is a District Committee Member-at-Large, Assistant Roundtable Commissioners, Merit Badge Counselor, and Eagle Project Proposal Reviewer. He is also a member of the Order for the Arrow.
He has served as Scoutmaster for the Mount Baker Council contingent at the 2023 National Scout Jamboree and is the Contingent Leader for the 2026 National Jamboree. In addition to his unit and Jamboree commitments, Mike is a member of the Council Range and Target Activities Committee and has served as Range Activities Director for Fire Mountain Summer Camp in 2024 and 2025. He is an instructor at IOLS, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, Wood Badge, and is a Leave No Trace Level 1 instructor. He is also a founding member of the Council High Adventure Committee.
Mike holds a master's degree in Applied Physics and National Resource Strategy and has taken his belief in education through his Scouting career. He has completed the Wood Badge advanced leadership courser, Powder Horn High Adventure leadership course, and National Camping School Range Activity Director course.
Congratulations Mike! 🎉
