Any Senior Patrol Leaders out there interested?

Big news for Scouts BSA youth leaders.

The Scouts BSA SPL Summit is coming in September 2026. Building on the National Youth Council, the Summit brings Senior Patrol Leaders from across the country together to share feedback directly with the Scouts BSA National Committee.

What SPLs can expect:

• Quarterly online gatherings with SPLs nationwide
• Direct feedback sessions with national program leadership
• Early insight into upcoming program initiatives and resources
• A real chance to shape the future of Scouts BSA

The best ideas come from the youth who live the program every week. The SPL Summit puts their voices at the center.

Full details on how to participate are coming this summer. Stay tuned.

The Mount Baker Council is excited to announce the addition of Michael Turner to our staff of paid professionals. Michael will be joining as the new Assistant Scout Executive where he will be providing direct leadership to the Field Staff and Development Department.

Michael has served as a professional Scouter for 19 years, gaining experience in almost every level of Scouting leadership including his most recent position serving the Northeast Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America where his direct field leadership role gave him the opportunity to impact multiple areas; including unit service, fundraising, volunteer engagement, and membership growth.

Before moving to Georgia, Michael served as Assistant Director of Field Service for the helping lead multi-District operations, staff development, and Council initiatives across Wyoming and Nebraska. Michael’s combination of executive leadership experience and hands-on field operations knowledge is a major strength he brings to Mount Baker Council.

Please join us in welcoming Michael to the team!

Congrats to another Eagle Scout!

Congrats to another Eagle Scout!

We are proud to celebrate Mia, the first female Eagle Scout in Troop 312!

Before girls were allowed in Cub Scouts, Mia watched her older brother participate and wished she could join too. When scouting opened to girls, she jumped in wholeheartedly, moving from Cub Scouts into Scouting America and embracing every adventure and leadership opportunity along the way.

As a member of her home Troop 312 and a member of Troop 681 in Seattle, Mia has built friendships, leadership skills, and a reputation for kindness and inclusion everywhere she’s been.

She has attended Philmont Scout Ranch twice and is returning again this year as an employee. For her Eagle project, she built raised garden beds for the Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

Her Eagle Court of Honor was filled with Scouts and leaders from Troop 312 and a member of Troop 681, reflecting just how many lives she has touched through Scouting.

In her remarks, Mia thanked those who paved the way for girls in Scouting and honored Scouts who came before her. Her words were thoughtful, brave, and deeply moving.

“Mia is one of the kindest and most compassionate souls I know. She has always been a champion for inclusion in our unit, and always makes new folks feel welcome. She truly embodies the Scout spirit.” - Steve Jensen, Scout Leader, Troop 312

Congratulations, Mia. We are proud of the leader you are and excited to see where your trail leads next.
