Gateway House has recently seen an increase in the number of families applying for shelter. As families work toward stable housing, many must begin again with very few household essentials.

We are always accepting donations of new or gently used household items, including dishes, cookware, curtains, laundry baskets and other basics that help turn a new place into a home.

If you have household items you no longer need, please consider donating them to Gateway House. Your generosity can help a local family get back on their feet and feel at home in their new space. ❤️🏠

We’re Still Looking for the Right Person to Join Our Team! 💙

Gateway House is continuing to accept applications for the AmeriCorps Housing Services Case Manager position beginning September 1, 2026.

If you’re compassionate, dependable, and passionate about helping others, this is an opportunity to spend a year making a meaningful difference for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our region. You’ll gain hands-on experience while helping connect people with housing, employment, community resources, and other supports needed to move toward stability.

✨ 1,700-hour AmeriCorps service term
💰 $20,400 living allowance
🎓 $7,445 Segal Education Award upon successful completion
❤️ Health insurance, professional development, and more

We ended last week with a wonderful surprise from our friends at Rent-2-Own in Morehead! 💙

Their team donated baskets filled with much needed supplies for Gateway House as part of their month long Acts of Kindness journey.

Thank you to the entire Rent-to-Own team for thinking of our shelter and the people we serve. We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for one another! ❤️

🎉 Happy (Early) 23rd Birthday, Artemus! 🎉

We're celebrating a little early today for our AmeriCorps Case Manager, Artemus!

To make his birthday week a little more memorable, we filled his office with balloons and streamers... which quickly turned it into an obstacle course! 😄 Thankfully, Artemus took it all in stride and was an excellent sport.

His kindness, positive attitude, and genuine care for the people we serve make a difference every single day. We're grateful to have him as part of the Gateway House family.

His official birthday is tomorrow, but we couldn't wait to celebrate! Please join us in wishing Artemus a very happy birthday! 🥳🎈🎂

For the past three years, Gracie has been a valued part of the Gateway Homeless Coalition team, bringing compassion, dedication, and a willingness to help wherever she's needed.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of Governor's Scholars from Morehead to Gateway House!

The Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program (GSP) is a highly selective summer program for outstanding high school students that encourages leadership, learning, and community service.

We are grateful these students chose to spend part of their summer volunteering with us. Their hard work, kindness, and willingness to serve made a real difference, and we're thankful for the time they shared with our team.

Thank you, Governor's Scholars, for giving back to your community. We wish you all the best in the future! ❤️
