At Gateway House, we’re a small crew, so we try to make birthdays feel a little personal and celebrate each of our staff in our own way. For Anthony, that meant a little less spotlight, one balloon, and NO expense spared on the cheesecake.

Anthony is the kind of guy you want on your team. Whether something needs fixing or someone needs a hand, he’s always willing to step up and help. He’s got a big heart, a knack for figuring things out, and a way of treating people with kindness and respect that we’re lucky to have around here.

🎃 Gather your group and help stock our shelter pantry!

Gateway House is looking for volunteer groups for our annual Trick or Treat for the Homeless food drive! Whether you’re a church group, club, coworkers, friends, or family, we’d love to have you join us.

Here’s how it works:
👻 Monday, October 26: Place the provided door hangers and bags at homes in your assigned neighborhood.
🎃 Wednesday, October 28, at 5 p.m.: Return to collect food donations left on porches and bring them back to Gateway House.

We’ll provide your neighborhood assignment and supplies—you bring the helping hands! Your time helps us provide meals for people staying at our shelter.

Sometimes it’s the practical things that make the biggest difference. 🧳💙

A generous community member recently donated suitcases to Gateway House, giving our residents something they can use when they’re ready to pack up and move into their next home.

We appreciate everyone who finds a way to support our residents and our mission!

Gateway House truly wouldn’t run as smoothly as it does without Jessica. She wears more hats than we can count, and she handles each one with unmatched organization, front‑line dedication, and the interpersonal talent that keeps our whole community connected. We’re grateful for everything she brings to GHC every single day. Happy Birthday, Jessica!

So much gratitude for our Rotary Club friends. Today, Allie Secor and Sue Prater stopped by with beautiful donations to make one of our bedrooms cozy and welcoming for our families we serve.

And a special thank you to Rotary member Annette Hines, who brought our staff a delicious lunch on Monday from the Rotary Club. Their kindness keeps us going and hopeful!

We are thankful for this community and the way you show up for Gateway House!

Happy Labor Day from Gateway House!

Today, we recognize the hard work, dedication and perseverance of workers throughout our community including those working to overcome difficult circumstances and build a more stable future for themselves and their families.

We are also especially grateful for our staff, volunteers, community partners and supporters whose compassion and commitment help make our work possible every day.

❤️ Our Community Came Through! ❤️

Last week, we shared that Gateway House needed household items to help several of the families staying with us as they prepared to move into homes of their own and our community responded with incredible generosity.

Because of your donations, we have been able to provide families with many of the everyday essentials they need as they take this important step toward stability. Each donated dish, curtain and household item helps transform an empty space into a place that feels like home.

Out of respect for the privacy of the families we serve, we do not share photos of them receiving these donations. However, please know that they are incredibly grateful, and your kindness is making a very real difference in their lives.

From all of us at Gateway House and from the families you have helped, thank you for always showing up when our neighbors need you. We are so fortunate to be part of such a caring community! 🏠

Gateway House has recently seen an increase in the number of families applying for shelter. As families work toward stable housing, many must begin again with very few household essentials.

We are always accepting donations of new or gently used household items, including dishes, cookware, curtains, laundry baskets and other basics that help turn a new place into a home.

If you have household items you no longer need, please consider donating them to Gateway House. Your generosity can help a local family get back on their feet and feel at home in their new space. ❤️🏠

Gateway House is continuing to accept applications for the AmeriCorps Housing Services Case Manager position beginning September 1, 2026.

If you’re compassionate, dependable, and passionate about helping others, this is an opportunity to spend a year making a meaningful difference for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our region. You’ll gain hands-on experience while helping connect people with housing, employment, community resources, and other supports needed to move toward stability.

✨ 1,700-hour AmeriCorps service term
💰 $20,400 living allowance
🎓 $7,445 Segal Education Award upon successful completion
❤️ Health insurance, professional development, and more
