🎭✨ Happy International Drag Day! ✨🎭

Today we celebrate the incredible art of drag and the talented performers who inspire, entertain, and uplift our community. Drag is creativity, selfexpression, resilience, and joy, and we’re proud to celebrate the amazing artists who make our events so special.

At Pride of Morehead, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the drag entertainers who have shared their talents with our community over the years. Your passion and dedication help create unforgettable memories and provide a welcoming space where everyone can feel seen and celebrated.

We would also like to give special appreciation to our President for being an incredible mentor to the drag community. Your guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support have helped so many performers grow and shine.

Finally, thank you to every member of our Board of Directors. Your hard work behind the scenes helps bring the magic of drag to life at our events and makes Pride of Morehead possible.

Happy International Drag Day! Here’s to celebrating authenticity, artistry, and the amazing people who continue to make our community stronger. β€οΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Your voice matters! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Our friends at Q***r Kentucky and the Moore Lab are inviting LGBTQ+ Kentuckians to participate in the 3rd Annual Q***r Kentucky Survey.

As our community continues to face unprecedented challenges, it's more important than ever that our experiences are documented and our voices are heard. This survey helps build the data needed to advocate for better health, resources, and policies that support LGBTQ+ people across the Commonwealth.

The survey takes about 25 minutes to complete, and ten participants will be randomly selected to receive a $25 gift card.
If you're an LGBTQ+ Kentuckian, please consider participating and sharing this opportunity with your community.

More information about the survey and community-facing dashboard can be found here: https://q***rkentucky.com/2026-lgbtq-kentucky-survey/.

The 2026 LGBTQ Kentucky survey is live through June, building on data from more than 4,000 previous respondents. Add your voice to one of the most comprehensive studies of q***r Kentuckians ever conducted.

🌈 Monday Memories 🌈

Today we're looking back at an unforgettable moment from the 3rd Annual Pride of Morehead Festival featuring the one and only LaNora Takie!

LaNora didn't just take the stage, she owned it. From the moment she entered the room, she had the crowd captivated. That stunning look, larger-than-life presence, and decades of experience created a performance that left attendees and board members alike completely awestruck.

As a trailblazing transgender entertainer and icon, LaNora brought more than glamour to our festival. she brought history, resilience, and inspiration. Her appearance reminded us why Pride matters and why celebrating those who paved the way is so important.

We are forever grateful that she shared her talent with our community. The 3rd Annual Pride of Morehead Festival simply would not have been the same without her.

πŸ’š Thank you, LaNora, for helping make Pride of Morehead history.

🌈 Q***r History Friday 🌈

What if one of the first openly transgender music stars was performing to sold-out crowds in the 1960s, and most people today have never heard her name?

This week, we're honoring Jackie Shane, a trailblazing soul and R&B singer whose talent, confidence, and authenticity made history long before the world was ready to celebrate her.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Jackie rose to prominence in Toronto's vibrant music scene, captivating audiences with her powerful voice and magnetic stage presence.

At a time when being openly transgender could cost someone their career, or worse, Jackie refused to hide who she was.

Her performances challenged expectations and expanded what was possible for LGBTQ+ visibility in entertainment. While many q***r and transgender people were forced into the shadows, Jackie stood center stage, living her truth with remarkable courage.

Though she stepped away from the spotlight for many years, her music and legacy were rediscovered by a new generation. In 2019, she became the first openly transgender artist to receive a posthumous Grammy nomination, ensuring that her contributions to music and q***r history would not be forgotten.

Jackie Shane's story is a reminder that LGBTQ+ people have always been here, shaping culture, creating art, and living authentically, even when history tried to overlook them.

🎡 Today, we celebrate Jackie Shane and the legacy she left behind.
