I just finished up my training period working as a Lab Scientist in the Special Chemistry Section at UKHealthcare. I am really liking my position and wanted to thank you again for your help preparing me for this job. I use a GCMS & LCMS almost daily and perform all kinds of unique extractions and other techniques that I am still learning. I also recently started a master’s program here at UK since UK is paying for it.

My boss asked me to reach out to any of my Morehead connections because we have a new opening in our lab. If you have any friends or students that may be interested please let me know and I will forward their info his way. I would recommend this job to anyone interested in a career in science. It is a great entry level position. They will likely start on 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm). I have attached a link to the posting on UK’s website. Feel free to forward this to anyone interested!

Avantor in Paris is about a 70% chemical repackaging plant of dry chemical supersacks and solvent tankers, 30% production for specialty solutions for Intel and a few biomedical companies. It would be a second shift M-F, or weekend first shift, in a dry material analytical chemistry lab with opportunities to cross train as a HPLC, Trace Metals, and/or ICP specialty chemist. The going hiring rate is $25 hourly if hired directly through one of our recruiters. We currently have 7 positions to fill! If they are interested, they can shoot me an email and I’ll contact a recruiter and get them scheduled for an interview at the Avantor Paris location.

Thank you to everyone that stopped by our booth at this year's Holiday Carnival! Members presented a poster and demonstration of the science behind magnetism. Our booth featured make-your-own holiday fridge magnets, self-inflatable balloons, and a magnetism experiment!

Happy Mole Day from the MSU Chemistry Club! Today is our Mole Day Ice Cream Social today in Lappin 414 at 5:00pm. There will be free ice cream, games, and the winner of the "guess how many moles of water in the container" contest will be revealed! This event is open to all students so bring friends. Hope to see you all there!
