The Montrose Area Kiwanis Club Citizen of the Month highlights the important work of the Susquehanna County Heritage Trail and The Susquehanna County Promotion and Tourism Agency. These groups focus on showing off the beautiful natural landscapes and rich history of Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains region. They work hard to share the stories of the area's past and promote the many attractions that can be found here. By doing this, they invite both locals and visitors to appreciate and explore the region. Their dedication ensures that the unique charm of Susquehanna County is recognized and celebrated.
Events organized by these organizations bring people together and create a sense of community. Festivals, guided tours, and themed activities showcase the region’s historical sites and natural wonders. These events not only celebrate what makes Susquehanna County special but also encourage participation from local businesses and residents. By involving the community in these events, the agencies foster connections between local people and visitors alike. This approach strengthens relationships and helps everyone understand and value the heritage of the area better.
Moreover, the work of the Susquehanna County Promotion & Tourism Agency and the Heritage Trail Committee supports economic growth in the region. By attracting tourists, they help local businesses thrive. More visitors mean more customers for shops, restaurants, and hotels. This increase in tourism can lead to new job opportunities and improved services for everyone. As the community continues to grow and prosper, it remains committed to preserving its unique history and natural beauty. The efforts of these organizations not only promote tourism but also ensure that the spirit of Susquehanna County endures for generations to come.

In July, the Montrose Area Kiwanis Club made significant contributions to our community, donating $2,500 to the Choconut and Lathrop Street Kindergarten Program, $1,200 to the Megan Gregory Family, Scout, a Diabetes Alert Dog, and $400 to help forty children enjoy a day at the Susquehanna County Conservation District. We also provided $900 to the Susquehanna County Interfaith Back-to-School Shoe Program and donated 400 hot dogs and buns for the upcoming Elk Lake School Fun Fest. These efforts were made possible by our fundraising activities. Please consider supporting our upcoming fundraisers, including the Lottery Calendar and Rose Sale, Sportman's Bingo, and Chicken-n-Biscut Dinner & Pie Auction. By supporting Montrose Area Kiwanis, you're supporting your community! Thank you!
